About this team and role:
The Localization Team manages the infrastructure that powers localization across all Mozilla products and services, and supports our global community of volunteer localizers. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll contribute to a range of Mozilla localization projects and technologies — from open source libraries like moz-l10n to Pontoon, our Django-based Translation Management System. You’ll also work on internationalization features that shape the experience of Firefox and other Mozilla products, and have the opportunity to engage with development of standards such as Unicode MessageFormat and DOM Localization.
You’ll contribute to architectural discussions and help drive feature development within the team. At Mozilla, Senior Engineers are expected to work independently on well-defined projects, collaborate closely with peers, and play a key role in delivering high-quality software that advances the team’s goals and Mozilla’s mission.
What you’ll do:
- Contribute to the development of Python and JavaScript libraries (such as moz-l10n) and tools that support Mozilla’s localization infrastructure.
- Improve localization and internationalization within the Firefox codebase to make features more adaptable and accessible across languages and regions.
- Collaborate with engineers and program managers to design and implement new Pontoon features.
- Engage with our community of volunteer developers and localizers to support and guide Mozilla’s localization efforts.
- Collaborate effectively with teammates and internal clients across regions and time zones.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong experience developing and maintaining libraries and tools using Python and JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of web technologies, APIs, and modern development workflows.
- Experience with open source development practices and community collaboration.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed team, across time zones and disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and working across technical and non-technical roles.
- Professional fluency in English (written and verbal).

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to contribute to the Tooling and Releases squads of the mission. We provide business-critical capabilities that power Oura’s state-of-the-art rollouts of new features, world-class Member eXperience troubleshooting, and next gen internal hub for launching bespoke tooling applications with the power of AI.
This is a hybrid role with preferred locations of Helsinki, Tampere or Oulu where the majority of our team is located. We will also consider outstanding candidates in the rest of Finland.

What You will do:
- Design and Implement End-to-End Systems: Build secure & scalable internal applications that power Oura’s rollout capabilities, troubleshooting workflows, and our next-gen AI-powered internal hub.
- Lead Frontend Excellence: Create sophisticated, performant UIs using TypeScript (React or Vue) and Vite to ensure a seamless, modular and future-proof internal tool ecosystem.
- Develop High-Performance Services: Create high-availability, low-latency backend services to deliver critical configurations and content to millions of Oura members and serve Ouranians needs.
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Take a leading role in leveraging future technologies, especially AI, across the software organization and championing engineering excellence through continuous operational improvements.
- Collaborate Across Missions: Work closely with Product Managers and engineering teams (Mobile, Cloud, Firmware, etc.) to translate complex internal needs into delightful developer experiences.
- Own Infrastructure & Delivery: Manage and scale our cloud environment using Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi, Helm) and modern CI/CD patterns to ensure reliable, automated deployments.
We would love to have You on our team, if You have:
- Extensive Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex full-stack projects.
- Outstanding AI-Native Proficiency: Deep experience with agentic workflows and tools (e.g., Cursor, agentic CLIs), treating AI as a high-output collaborator to fundamentally reshape and accelerate the software lifecycle across craft and organization.
- Mastery of Modern Web Tech: Deep expertise in TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (React or Vue), including experience with state management and micro-frontend architectures.
- Robust Backend Skills: Strong proficiency in building production-grade APIs and services with Python or Rust.
- Database Versatility: Solid competence working with both SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, Firestore, Redis) databases.
- Cloud & DevOps Fluency: Practical experience with AWS (EKS, SQS/SNS, S3) and containerization, along with a "DevOps mindset" toward monitoring (Sentry, OTEL) and automation.
- Ownership Mentality: A proactive attitude with the ability to take a rough idea and turn it into a concrete, high-impact product.
- Passion for DevX: A genuine interest in improving developer productivity through easy-to-use tooling and great engineering practices.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, DataFlow (Android), to focus on core Android components responsible for storage and movement of data between Oura’s mobile app and cloud.
We’re looking for exceptional people. If you lack “senior-level” experience but are otherwise highly capable please do apply. Staff+ engineers will also be considered, though make that clear in your application.
This role is hybrid, as you'll work a day or so a week at the Helsinki Office at Pohjoisesplanadi 37. We don't have any strict policy on this as a company, but as a team we appreciate spending some time face to face.
Team size: 6-10
DataFlow team core mission:
- Reduce the effort required to store and query data that needs to be available in Oura’s app and across the cloud
- Empower feature teams to develop end-to-end features without the need to involve backend engineers.
- Evangelize compliance with standardized data schemas, data quality and data lifetime management.
- Ensure our systems are performant, scalable and cost-efficient, able to handle millions of active users and PBs of data.
The dataflow team is a platform team - most of the work is internal-facing. UI work is rare.
The team includes android, iOS, backend, and “full-stack” engineers that do both app-side and backend work.
This role:
You will be one of the core Android engineers for this team. The focus area may naturally shift over time but the following provides an idea of the work being done:
- Writing kotlin code (for the most part)
- Improving app-cloud data sync, including: reliability, latency, performance, observability.
- Improving app-side data storage: performance, data access api design, data migration systems, etc.
- Implementing automation and codegeneration layers.
- Supporting a variety of work in the platform domain, including data management and more.
You will participate in both design and implementation work. This being a platform team with internal users, we expect team members to be proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement at feature and architecture level.
Technologies:
- Android: Kotlin, (with some C++ libs, mostly in other domains), RealmDB (we’re migrating away from it), Sqlite
- Backend: Python, Rust, AWS
- Misc: some TypeScript
We believe great engineers have a solid understanding of the fundamentals and learn quickly. Hence it’s more important that you can showcase excellence than having experience with specific tech.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience with mobile development
- Ideally, proficient in Kotlin programming and modern Android app architecture. iOS experience is also considered.
- Previous experience solving challenging technical problems.
- Broad knowledge of software fundamentals, testing, concurrency, databases, and system design.
- Ability to take ownership of projects, design technical solutions, drive implementation, and deliver results with limited guidance.
- Ability to mentor other engineers and increase developer productivity across teams.
- Ability to produce high quality code quickly (with and without AI) - you identify yourself as a prolific programmer.
- Driven by value creation and overall impact.
- Team player with great spoken and written communication skills.

Not required but potentially relevant:
- Knowledge of distributed systems, data syncing mechanisms and challenges (data consistency, etc).
- Experience with HTTP API design: if interested, there is potential to work on both the backend APIs and the Android integration for new features
- Experience with JNI and C/C++ code.
- Experience writing highly performant code at lower and higher level, including application profiling.
- Knowledge of iOS - if interested, there is potential to contribute on both Android and iOS.
