What you will do in this role 🧐

As a Data Scientist (AI), you’ll operate at the heart of Sendcloud’s Intelligence & Automation engine. You don’t just report on data; you build the models that power our future. In this role, you will design and deploy scalable machine learning solutions and AI-driven architectures that automate decision-making across the company. You’ll turn raw data into autonomous, high-impact business logic by leveraging LLMs for internal efficiency

You are naturally curious and stay ahead of the AI curve. You explore data beyond the surface, identifying where automation can replace manual bottlenecks. With deep technical expertise in the AI stack and clear communication skills, you bridge the gap between complex algorithmic logic and business value—translating technical "black boxes" into transparent, high-impact solutions for stakeholders.

You take ownership of the full ML lifecycle. With an entrepreneurial mindset, you drive initiatives from discovery to production, focusing on delivering value early and iterating fast. You understand that the best AI solutions aren't just theoretically sound—they are robust, maintainable, and solve real-world problems. You build momentum by proving value through smart MVPs and scaling them into core business drivers.

• Holds a master’s degree in Econometrics, Mathematics, Data Science, or another quantitative field
• 2–4 years of relevant work experience
• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for problem-solving
• You’re motivated to apply AI to real business challenges

• Fluent in English, both written and verbal, and enjoys collaborating with stakeholders

What will you do as a Full Stack Software Engineer?
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will ensure that our software services and applications on our cloud platforms (primarily AWS) are maintained and built. This involves working on both the front-end (React/TypeScript) and the back-end (Python), ensuring our systems are reliable, scalable, and maintainable. In close collaboration with data scientists, product owners, and other engineers, you will build and deploy various solutions, ensuring they are production ready. The development process is supported by our in-house development libraries and a streamlined CI/CD pipeline. A core part of your responsibility will be to translate complex business questions into concrete technical solutions to develop and maintain innovative products. 

Your key responsibilities: 

• Product Development: You will develop, validate, and maintain both the front-end (React, TypeScript) and the back-end (Python) of our applications. You will be able to independently analyze and resolve complex technical issues and proactively propose new solutions and improvements.
• Platform Professionalization: You will design and implement robust solutions for logging, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee the stability and performance of the platform.
• DevOps & CI/CD: You will build and manage automated deployment pipelines with tools like GitHub Workflows, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Cloud Infrastructure: You will work extensively with cloud platforms (primarily AWS) and manage services such as relational databases (RDS) and serverless functions (Lambda).
• Collaboration & Innovation: You will work closely with data scientists, product owners, and other engineers. You are capable of resolving issues independently and ensuring proper implementation in collaboration with your colleagues. 

Your profile: 

• You have a university-level (WO) work and thinking ability, with a degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• You have at least 3 years of work experience in a similar role as a Full Stack Software Engineer.
• Expertise in front-end development with React and TypeScript.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Extensive experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL via AWS RDS).
• Demonstrable experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• You have experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and version control in GitHub (e.g., Workflows).
• You are highly proficient in working with cloud platforms, with a strong preference for AWS. Experience with AWS Lambda is a nice-to-have.
• Analytical & Independent: You can quickly understand a problem, independently propose solutions, and communicate them clearly to your team.

Wat ga je doen als Data Scientist? 
Als Data Scientist bij WPP Media ben jij de motor achter onze data-gedreven marketing. Je brengt media- en klantdata (zoals CRM en gedragsdata) samen om antwoord te geven op de meest uitdagende klantvragen. Je bent niet alleen aan het programmeren en modelleren; je bent een adviseur die complexe inzichten vertaalt naar concrete aanbevelingen voor onze klanten. 

Jouw belangrijkste verantwoordelijkheden: 

• Inzichten & Advies: Je bent een volwaardig adviseur voor onze klanten. Je vertaalt hun businessvragen naar data-oplossingen en presenteert complexe analyses en resultaten op een overtuigende en begrijpelijke manier.
• Modelleren & Programmeren: De klantadviezen baseer je op geavanceerde Data Science modellen, die je ontwikkelt, implementeert en onderhoudt. Denk aan (conversie) attributiemodellen zoals Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM), voorspelmodellen en (klant)clusteringsalgoritmes.
• Data Engineering: Je werkt met diverse databronnen en bent bedreven in het ontsluiten en combineren van data met SQL en NO-SQL (bijv. in Snowflake).
• Samenwerken & Innoveren: Je werkt in een multidisciplinair team met data strategen, analytics experts en engineers, én met mediaspecialisten en creatieven om tot de beste, geïntegreerde oplossingen te komen. 

Jouw profiel  

• Je hebt WO werk- en denkniveau, met een afgeronde opleiding in een kwantitatieve richting zoals Data Science, Econometrie, Wiskunde, Statistiek of Computerwetenschappen.
• Je hebt minimaal 3 jaar werkervaring in een vergelijkbare rol, waarin je hands-on met data hebt gewerkt.
• Je bent gesprekspartner voor de klant, hebt bewezen ervaring in het adviseren van stakeholders en kunt complexe materie helder en overtuigend presenteren.
• Je bent een expert in Python (of andere programmeertaal) en hebt ervaring met SQL en/of NO-SQL databases.
• Je hebt diepgaande kennis van statistiek en kunt zelfstandig statistische en machine learning modellen implementeren en onderhouden.
• Je hebt een sterke affiniteit met marketing. Ervaring met Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM) of andere attributiemodellen is een grote pre.
• Je beheerst de Nederlandse en Engelse taal uitstekend.
