The Developer Productivity team supports the software development ecosystem used by thousands of engineers to develop and maintain MongoDB Server and developer tools in a complex matrix of multi-platform self-hosted products and multi-cloud hosted environments. Our tools and services, as well as our domain expertise, ensure that MongoDB developers can ship high quality products quickly, confidently, and securely.
As a senior staff engineer you’ll be responsible for helping shape the future of our developer ecosystem and ensure we take advantage of the rapidly-evolving engineering landscape. You will partner with engineering leadership across the company to identify system-wide opportunities to accelerate developer velocity and efficiency, enhancing smart data collection and integrating analytics assistants that produce actionable insights every step of the way.

Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the developer productivity domain in large engineering environments, including building, and operationalizing complex, reliable systems
- Strong experience supporting one or more of C++, Java, Go, Python, Rust, Node, Typescript
- Strong understanding of DevOps culture and tooling
- Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines, common deployment models and infrastructure, and various techniques used to safely roll changes into production environments
- Hands-on experience implementing metrics and observability tools and best practices, as well as data processing pipeline technologies such as Iceberg, Trino, Kafka
- Proven track record of driving technical execution and vision for organizations with 50+ team members
- Skilled in advocating for and representing the needs of a 1000+ customer base to internal platform teams
Responsibilities
- Drive strong operational excellence standards for internal software development tools and services, helping define golden paths that optimize the efficiency and velocity of our engineering organization
- Design software development systems to ensure best practices and champion industry standards
- Advise Engineering partners on technical implications of systems design with regards to complexity, testability, and maintainability
- Lead development and project management of some of the largest projects within MongoDB to improve developer productivity and software quality, particularly around data-driven insights and optimizations
- Provide technical mentorship and leadership to the Developer Productivity organization, promoting best practices and fostering team growth
Bonus points if the candidate has experience with:
- Strong systems fundamentals, including testing and monitoring multi-threaded systems
- Performance profiling of complex systems
- Leveraging best of breed AI tools & technologies in the developer productivity domain along with the necessary telemetry and analytics to measure effectiveness in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience supporting the development of database internals or core components for data processing systems
Success Measures
- In the first month, you will have understood the high level architecture of at least one of the systems within the MongoDB developer ecosystem and fixed a few bugs
- In three months, you will have a broad understanding of the overall developer ecosystem and be taking on code review responsibilities
- In six months, you will have taken on code and design review responsibilities for key systems within the software development ecosystem
- In twelve months, you will be leading the development of MongoDB’s next generation developer ecosystem, helping to mentor engineers on the team, and using your experience to drive the long-term DevProd-wide technical roadmap

About the Cloud Payments team
Cloud Payments is part of the Cloud Billing organization. As MongoDB’s Cloud business grows, the billing and payments stack becomes increasingly mission‑critical. Our team:
- Ingests and aggregates detailed metering and usage data from internal services and major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Calculates and generates daily customer bills for millions of customers worldwide
- Integrates with payment processors and internal financial systems to support Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Accounting
- Continuously improves customer-facing billing and payments experiences and the reliability and scalability of our backend systems
We’re a group of engineers who care deeply about code quality, correctness, and observability, and who are comfortable collaborating with both highly technical partners and non-technical stakeholders across the business.
The role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer 3 to help design, build, and operate the services that power Cloud Payments. You’ll work primarily in the JVM ecosystem (Java and related tooling), with a focus on large-scale, distributed systems that have to be correct, resilient, and auditable.
This is a Canada-based, fully remote role. You’ll collaborate closely with teammates and stakeholders across North America time zones, including engineers in the broader Cloud Billing organization.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will:
- Design, implement, and operate backend services that ingest, process, and reconcile large volumes of usage and billing data from internal and external systems
- Collaborate with product, Finance, Revenue, and other engineering teams to evolve our billing and payments capabilities and improve customer experience
- Own features end‑to‑end: requirements, design, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring, and iterative improvement
- Help scale and harden our systems as Atlas and our broader Cloud business continue to grow rapidly
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews to keep our systems robust and maintainable
- Contribute to improving our tooling, observability, and development workflows so the whole team can move faster and safer
- Take part in an on‑call rotation that treats reliability as a team sport, not an individual burden
What we’re looking for
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have 3+ years of experience building and maintaining backend systems in a compiled language, ideally Java
- Understand core object‑oriented design principles and how to apply them to complex, evolving systems
- Have experience with distributed systems and services that need to be highly available, observable, and correct at scale
- Are comfortable working with databases (relational and/or non‑relational such as MongoDB) in production environments
- Communicate clearly and enjoy working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders across multiple teams
- Are curious, collaborative, and motivated by solving real customer and business problems rather than just closing tickets
Nice to have (but not required):
- Experience with billing, payments, or other financial systems where correctness, auditability, and compliance really matter
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern communication protocols like gRPC
- Familiarity with data-intensive applications, data pipelines, or data lakes
- Exposure to working with I/O frameworks like Reactor
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Prior exposure to MongoDB as a developer or operator

Senior Data & AI Consultant
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Consultant for our Data & AI practice to lead transformative digital initiatives powered by the Microsoft ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and Dataverse, who can translate complex data challenges into strategic business outcomes. You will architect and implement modern data platforms, guide clients on AI readiness, and mentor teams on leveraging the full Microsoft stack to enable advanced analytics, data governance, and intelligent automation.
Position Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise-grade data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and Power BI, ensuring scalable, secure, and performant architectures.
- Develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging Dataflows, Notebooks, and Pipelines within Fabric, enabling unified data ingestion and transformation across diverse data sources.
- Build semantic data models and design data warehouses, lakes, and lakehouses for analytics, AI, and operational reporting.
- Deliver end-to-end Power BI solutions, from dataset modeling to DAX optimization and interactive visual storytelling.
- Provide strategic consulting on data modernization, AI enablement, and governance frameworks (e.g., Purview), aligning technical execution with business goals.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, promoting best practices in data engineering, solution architecture, and Microsoft platform adoption.
- Act as a subject matter expert on the Microsoft Cloud Data Platform, staying current with updates across Fabric, Power BI, Synapse, and Azure OpenAI.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4+ years hands-on experience with the Microsoft Data & AI stack (Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, Dataverse).
- Proven success designing and delivering modern data platforms within Microsoft environments, integrating structured and unstructured data for analytics and AI.
- Expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), T-SQL, and Python for advanced data modeling and transformation.
- Familiarity with Fabric’s OneLake, Data Activator, and Copilot integrations for automating data insights.
- Experience implementing data governance and security via Microsoft Purview and Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

About the Role:
As a member of the Smart Roadside team, your mission will be to create and enhance Drivewyze applications to meet the current and future needs of our customers as part of a talented team of Software Developers, QA, Product Managers, and other internal partners.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be involved in maintaining and expanding existing applications, plus design and developing of new applications, building on, and expanding the Drivewyze ecosystem to meet current requirements and addressing future challenges we don’t even know about yet. This includes portal applications, back-end services, APIs, supporting tools, security and architectural changes.
Job Accountabilities:
- Design, architect, develop, code and test applications on our servers and cloud platform. The following tech stacks are currently in use:
- C#, ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Postgres.
- Elixir, Erlang, and Linux.
- Develop, manage, maintain, and improve web APIs and microservices based on current cloud architecture applicable to the platform.
- Apply industry best practices with your knowledge and expertise to execute an idea from concept to delivery as a member of a collaborative agile team.
- Document design, architecture, and system integrations as required.
- Explore, evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies to maximize efficiency and effectiveness for new and existing product ideas.
