KPI is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Software Group on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. You’ll help design, develop, and evolve our Warehouse Execution and Control Systems (WES/WCS), software that serves as the central nervous system for advanced materials-handling environments.

This role is a great fit for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and working directly with customers on real-world automation solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and customize KPI’s Warehouse Execution and Control System (WES/WCS) for new and existing customers.
• Collaborate with internal teams on analysis, architecture, development, and testing of software solutions.
• Work directly with customers to gather requirements and implement tailored system customizations.
• Participate in the evolution of software architecture, tools, and frameworks working with technologies such as Java, Angular, Spring/Spring-based microservices, MS SQL Server, RESTful APIs, and JDBC/iBatis/Stored Procedures.
• Support system configuration, solution analysis, and occasional end-user training at client sites (approximately 25% travel).
• Communicate effectively across engineering, product, and stakeholder teams.
• Develop deep expertise in materials handling automation and warehouse technologies.

Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. It's a critical role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of product and infrastructure, thinks strategically, and is passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope to get faster feedback from customers, navigate the integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK
• Optimize existing functionality to ship things like faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and improving our algorithms
• Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin

We’re hiring a Lead API Platform Engineer to join our Application Delivery team within Platform Engineering. This is an individual contributor (IC) technical lead role, owning the API gateway experience end-to-end — from pre-production through production. You’ll help shape technical direction, mentor engineers, and continuously improve our on-call/escalation rotation — participating and fielding gateway-related production issues when on rotation.

• Own our gateway platforms: Maintain and evolve our Kong Enterprise API Gateway and Azure Application Gateway configurations, standards, and best practices—and help design what’s next.
• Strengthen API security: Implement and promote API security standards, including OAuth2, JWT, and SAML, along with access controls and encryption.
• Improve reliability and performance: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize using Datadog. Tune latency, caching behavior, and rate limiting to support high-performing APIs.
