In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most. This meant challenging the status quo and fixing everything that was wrong with the ER experience. THE JOB

As a Nursing Trainer, you have one of the most meaningful jobs at VEG: helping others grow. You’ll lead with curiosity, coach with compassion, and obsess over development. You’re not just building skills—you’re building confidence, momentum, and careers in emergency medicine. Whether you’re working 1:1 on the floor, guiding peer-led sessions, or developing educational tools, your impact will be felt hospital-wide. You’ll tailor training to every learning style, celebrate every milestone, and say yes to every VEGgie who is ready to take the next step. Your work helps make VEG a place where people learn, lead, and love what they do.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs
• Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through direct observation and real-time immersion
• Drive advancement through VEG’s Cultivate program
• Implement VEG training programs and serve as the go-to training lead at your hospital
• Split your time between on-the-floor mentoring and strategic development
• Provide tailored, hands-on training for all learning styles and skill levels with patience and understanding
• Organize peer training opportunities and build a strong mentoring culture
• Collaborate with nursing managers and professional networks to broaden impact
• Develop and refine training content (i.e. presentations, videos, simulations, and assessments)
• Ensure all training aligns with VEG’s culture, mission, and emergency standards of care
• Continually evaluate and improve leveling programs for assistants and technicians

WHAT YOU NEED

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located; VTS in ECC, internal medicine, or anesthesia/analgesia a plus and will lead to extra considerations in compensation
• High level of knowledge and skill in emergency medicine 
• Previous training experience preferred
• A relentless passion for teaching and uplifting others
• An ownership mindset around your team’s growth and development
• Strong communicator and collaborator across teams
• Excitement about VEG’s culture and mission, with a desire to lead by example
• Willingness to travel to other VEG hospitals in your region to help with new veterinarian onboarding as needed
• Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
• Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types

The Role: Medical Director

This is a hybrid role combining clinical practice with leadership responsibilities. You’ll work primarily as a practicing veterinarian while helping guide the medical standards, mentoring newer doctors, and partnering with hospital leadership to drive team development.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time, experienced veterinarian base salary: $145-175k. Commensurate with skillset, experience, schedule and your preferred pace.
• Earning potential on monthly, no negative accrual bonus plan: $220k+
• Additional opportunities to earn: Highly competitive monthly, no negative accrual bonus plan. Bonus plan is not mandatory (for candidates preferring straight salary). Equity opportunity available starting early 2025.
• Relocation stipend
• Bonus in exchange for multi-year commitment negotiable; commensurate with length of commitment, skillset and schedule commitment

We are seeking a part-time or full-time, experienced veterinary assistant to join our team of dedicated and highly skilled individuals. We believe veterinary assistants play an essential role in providing high quality care to our patients. Experience in a veterinary hospital is required for this role.

 Requirements

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Able to remain calm in stressful situations
• Able to sit and/or stand for extended period; shift times range from 9-12 hours
• Able to lift 40 pounds
• Basic veterinary knowledge and terminology 
• At least 6 months of experience as a veterinary assistant in a hospital setting   

Our veterinary assistant team is responsible for the following, 

 Patient Care 

• Handle and restrain patients appropriately to minimize stress while ensuring safety of the pet and team members; understand general animal behavior and recognize the signs of fear, aggression and stress 

• Assist LVTs with nursing care to hospitalized patients; document treatments; make certain the pet is in a comfortable and clean housing area with access to fresh water  

• Able to use in-house lab equipment;  collect and prepare samples for reference lab 

• Assist with technician appointments; document medical services provided; record current weight and vitals 

• Dispense medications per veterinarian’s  instructions  

• Demonstrate compassion and patience when handling pets  

• Assist veterinarians in exam rooms  

Client Services  

• Provide client education materials and answer questions in a professional, compassionate and respectful manner  

• Ensure client concerns or questions are addressed in a timely manner; fill prescription refills (approval must be obtained from LVT or veterinarian first)  

• Review treatment plans with owners professionally and using proper veterinary terminology; answer any questions or defer to a LVT or veterinarian  

• Document all client communication with sufficient details; utilizing proper grammar, spelling and veterinary terminology  

• Prepare paperwork for referral hospitals or consultations  

• Obtain an accurate and relevant history from clients in a timely manner 

• Discharge exam room patients; going over instructions with owners thoroughly and providing print materials when needed 

• Demonstrating patience and compassion during client interactions  

• Enter all charges and inform the front desk when client can be checked out; help process payments when needed 

General  

• Ensure hospital areas such as exam rooms and treatment room are clean, organized and free of safety hazards; clean up pet accidents or fluids immediately; bring any safety concerns to the practice manager’s attention immediately  

• Complete tasks on the daily, weekly and monthly checklists; keep exam rooms and treatment areas stocked with necessary supplies 

• Properly use and maintain medical equipment; troubleshoot when needed 

• Adhere to core values, medical protocols, and operational policies
