ArcGIS Hub is quickly expanding the ability to bring people together to discuss and collaborate spatially around ArcGIS’s catalog of authoritative data. In this role you will focus on working directly with product and software engineers to ensure functionality meets our high standards of release readiness.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product and software engineers to clarify acceptance criteria and translate them into maintainable manual and automated test coverage
- Perform risk-based testing of functionality, including validation of accessibility, internationalization/localization, security, and privacy requirements
- Perform structured exploratory and scenario-based testing across key user workflows to uncover usability, edge cases, and integration issues
- Validate and triage defect reports in collaboration with Esri Support Services, review with development team for resolution
- Communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations via dashboards, written summaries, and verbal updates to support informed release decisions
- Review automated test coverage and results to assess effectiveness, surface gaps, and recommend areas for improvements
- Lead risk assessment for assigned features, evaluating functional, technical, and user-facing risks to inform test focus and release readiness decisions
Requirements
- 2+ years of QA experience testing modern web applications in an Agile environment
- Experience with web UI test automation tooling such as Playwright
- Experience testing REST APIs and validating integrations (JSON/HTTP)
- Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript to read and reason about automated test cases to better understand coverage and recommend areas of improvement
- Intermediate understanding of web fundamentals (HTML/CSS, components, APIs) and UI/UX principles
- Intermediate understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and internationalization/localization (i18n/l10n) practices
- Proven problem-solving skills to isolate issues, document clearly, and collaborate effectively to resolve product deficiencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Science, or another related technical
Recommended Qualifications
- QA experience testing modern web applications in an Agile environment Experience supporting enterprise-scale or other developer-focused products
- Experience working closely with product to assess delivery risk and release impact
- Familiarity with interpreting automated test results, monitoring dashboards, or other quality signals to assess system health

What You'll Do
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and design to build and deliver high-quality user experiences
- Build and maintain dynamic, responsive user interfaces using React and Next.js
- Design, build, and integrate backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
- Contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve the system design over time
- Apply appropriate tools, services, and architectural patterns to build scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions
- Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code following best practices and design patterns
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with teammates to continuously improve code quality
- Pair program with team members to solve problems and share knowledge
- Work closely with product managers and engineers to deliver solutions that meet business needs
- Monitor and maintain application performance using metrics, logging, and observability tools
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and help improve development and deployment workflows
- Identify opportunities to improve the codebase, tooling, and team efficiency through automation and best practices
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on full-stack development
- Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
- Experience building scalable front-end applications and reusable UI components
- Experience building backend services and APIs using Node.js, including REST and/or GraphQL
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs
- Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based application development
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
- Experience writing automated tests using tools such as Jest and Playwright
- Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions
- Understanding of Agile development practices such as Scrum or Kanban
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by continuously learning, sharing knowledge, and contributing to team improvement
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform
- Experience with telemetry and monitoring tools such as New Relic or AWS CloudWatch
- Experience contributing to SDLC and team process improvements
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug issues and deliver effective solutions across the stack

- AWS certifications (Developer or Solutions Architect)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude
- Experience working with modern architectural patterns (serverless or event-driven systems)
- Experience with test-driven development (TDD)
- Experience building mobile applications
- Experience with Node.js ORMs such as Prisma or Sequelize
- Familiarity with WordPress.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Compensation:
This range reflects total cash compensation, which may include base salary only or base salary plus target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately and not included below. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
- Total Cash Compensation Range: $X80,000– $120,000 per year
