About the Role 

We are building a next-generation observability and cloud platform that is high-performance, cost-efficient, secure, and scalable across multi-region, multi-cloud clusters. You will lead the architecture and evolution of Roku’s observability and cloud infrastructure stack. This includes metrics, logs, traces, telemetry pipelines, service mesh, developer experience, and reliability of systems that power thousands of services and millions of devices. 

You will drive a vision where developers gain deep visibility with minimal overhead, onboarding is seamless, and insights are available in real time. Your work will directly help Roku scale efficiently while maintaining reliability, cost control, and performance. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Architect and lead Roku’s observability platform across metrics, logs, and traces; evolve data pipelines and storage layers optimized for high throughput, performance, and cost at Roku scale (TSDBs, Parquet, distributed processing). 

• Extend and harden open‑source observability systems; overhaul core components (e.g., storage layers, query paths) to improve performance, reliability, and usability at scale. 

• Implement features such as pre‑aggregation, down-sampling, and sampling to reduce load and accelerate queries across the platform. 

• Collaborate across platform, SRE, and product teams to migrate hundreds of workloads to our common platform; augment and automate CI/CD flows and onboarding. 

• Integrate security into infrastructure and platform services; ensure robust multi‑tenant, multi‑cluster, and multi‑cloud designs. 

• Contribute improvements back to open source and CNCF‑aligned projects; shape standards adoption (OpenTelemetry, OpenMetrics) across the company. 

• Mentor engineers; establish best practices for reliability, efficiency, and cost management across service mesh and observability domains. 

What You'll have  

• Extensive experience with  software engineering with a track record of architecting distributed systems or platforms at scale. 

• Strong hands‑on experience in Golang and one scripting language (e.g., Python or Shell). 

• Experience operating observability at pb-scale ingestion and hundreds of millions of series. 

• Expertise in observability platforms and tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, ELK/OpenSearch, ClickHouse) and standards (OpenTelemetry, OpenMetrics).

About the role

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint Administration & Knowledge Management 

• Administer, configure, and maintain SharePoint Online environment, ensuring performance, security, and reliability. 
• Design and manage site architecture, libraries, lists, metadata, and content types to support scalable knowledge management. 
• Establish and enforce governance standards, permissions models, and content lifecycle policies. 
• Develop and optimize knowledge structures (hubs, document management frameworks). 
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to access, performance, integrations, and usability. 
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for SharePoint across the organization. 

Collaboration Platform Management 

• Administer and support tools such as Slack, Notion, Smartsheet, and other collaboration applications. 
• Partner with teams to design workspaces, templates, and workflows that improve usability and adoption. 
• Monitor system usage and optimize licensing, performance, and configuration. 
• Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and governance guidelines. 

Workflow Automation & Integration

• Design and implement workflows using Power Automate and other automation tools. 
• Support integrations across Microsoft 365 and third-party platforms. 
• Identify opportunities to streamline collaboration and knowledge-sharing processes through automation. 

User Enablement & Adoption

• Lead onboarding, training, and support for SharePoint and collaboration tools. 
• Promote best practices for knowledge organization, content management, and collaboration. 
• Act as a trusted advisor to business teams on how to effectively leverage SharePoint as a knowledge platform. 

Continuous Improvement & Projects

• Identify and drive improvements in knowledge management, collaboration, and productivity. 
• Support implementation of new tools, enhancements, and migrations (e.g., SharePoint modernization). 
• Collaborate with IT, security, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet technical and business requirements.

Education & Experience

The salary range for this role is $76,000 - $104,500. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. What’s the opportunity?

The Research Equipment Lead is responsible for enabling Parabilis’ cutting-edge research by ensuring laboratory equipment is strategically selected, optimally configured, highly reliable, and continuously improving. This role owns the full lifecycle of research instrumentation and partners closely with Research, Finance, Facilities, IT, Quality, and external vendors to minimize downtime, enable automation, and support scalable, reproducible science.

This position requires deep and broad technical expertise across research equipment platforms, strong operational rigor, and the ability to integrate automation, data, and AI-driven approaches into lab operations. The Research Equipment Lead plays a critical role in aligning equipment strategy with scientific roadmaps, growth plans, and financial and regulatory requirements.

Equipment Lifecycle & Operational Excellence

• Own the full lifecycle of research equipment, from needs assessment and acquisition through installation, operation, maintenance, and retirement, ensuring high availability and performance across research groups.
• Oversee day-to-day equipment operations, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and disruption to research.
• Lead installation, qualification, validation, and calibration of laboratory instruments in coordination with vendors, Facilities, IT, and internal stakeholders, applying continuous improvement principles.
• Maintain comprehensive, audit-ready documentation, including equipment inventories, maintenance logs, calibration records, service contracts, and validation documentation, in alignment with internal policies and applicable regulatory expectations.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for equipment reliability, utilization, and downtime.

Training, Partnership & Vendor Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment-related issues across research labs.
• Develop and deliver technical training to ensure safe, effective, and compliant use of laboratory instruments.
• Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Research, Facilities, IT, Quality, Procurement, and Finance to ensure seamless equipment support and alignment.
• Manage vendor relationships, including service agreements, performance reviews, and escalation of technical issues.

Equipment Strategy, Automation & Capital Planning

• Partner with R&D leadership to forecast equipment, automation, and digital infrastructure needs aligned with scientific strategy, growth plans, and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with Finance on capital planning, asset tracking, depreciation, and accounting requirements for research equipment.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, automation platforms, and AI-enabled tools; recommend capital investments that improve efficiency, scalability, data quality, and reproducibility.
• Identify opportunities to implement laboratory automation, robotics, and software-driven workflows, including the use of AI or data analytics to optimize equipment performance, scheduling, predictive maintenance, and experimental throughput.
• Contribute to the design or customization of novel or integrated instrumentation solutions to support next-generation research.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• 5-7+ years of hands-on experience supporting and maintaining complex research laboratory equipment across multiple scientific functions.
• Demonstrated expertise in equipment lifecycle management, preventive maintenance programs, and vendor coordination.
• Working knowledge of relevant scientific, engineering, operational, safety, and regulatory principles applicable to research laboratories.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation rigor.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The base salary target for this position is $86,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal practices.
