Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced UI Design Engineer to conceptualize, prototype, and ship novel computing interfaces tailored for BCI. Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- Passion to explore an open-ended, multi-disciplinary, constrained space where design choices are informed by neural structure, model architecture, radio bandwidth, and more. For instance, a slight difference in an animated spring coefficient can change perceptual response time, shifting the alignment of labels and the performance of our decoders. You will actively collaborate with domain experts within and outside the team to understand these constraints and design your way around them
- An intuitive sense for what level of fidelity to reach for when navigating this space, be it a conversation, a rough sketch, or a testable prototype
- Excitement to work within and push the boundaries of an entirely new medium of interaction without the traditional sensory feedback of existing physical input devices (e.g., the kinetic friction of glass along the surface of a trackpad, or the resistive pressure of a spring during a keypress)
- The ability to empathize with and design for people with a sensory experience that differs from your own, and ambition to build something that feels magical, beyond the local minima of that which “works.” You’ll do whatever it might take to deliver that experience, be it a highly optimized vertex shader or a custom property animator, while maintaining an extremely high bar for fluidity and detail throughout
- A strong point-of-view, without ego—you may occasionally pursue a hunch that not everyone on the team agrees with, but are relentless about testing, deleting, and learning from ideas that don’t work
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, build, and ship novel computing interfaces for BCI
- Work with study participants to iterate on and further refine these interfaces
- Collaborate with domain experts in neuroscience, machine learning, and implant engineering to maximize the precision and fluidity of these interfaces within our constraint-space
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field; or equivalent experience
- A portfolio of demonstrated experience designing and shipping features end-to-end (i.e., initial conceptualization → nth prototype → initial release → nth iteration)
- Proficiency in Apple frameworks (i.e., SwiftUI, UIKit/AppKit, and/or Metal) or an equivalent and transferable stack (i.e., React, Three.js, WebGPU).
- Familiarity with Objective-C, C, and/or C++
Expected Compensation:
The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees’ success with the company's long-term growth. As such, in addition to base salary, Neuralink offers equity compensation (in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSU)) for all full-time employees.

What You’ll Do:
- Architect, develop, and maintain core iOS application features in Swift with an emphasis on performance, stability, and usability
- Deploy and optimize on-device machine learning models (via MLX and CoreML) for real-time intelligence
- Integrate and visualize mapping, live weather feeds, sensor data, and other aviation inputs
- Ensure the app operates reliably offline
- Coordinate closely with product, design, and AI teams to translate concepts, research, and requirements into flight-ready features
- Uphold industry best practices for testing, accessibility, code quality, and compliance
- Own the App Store release process, including provisioning, profiling, and ongoing support/analytics
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, peer code reviews, and iterative feature delivery
- Help shape a dynamic, fast-moving engineering culture where shipping matters
The unique technical challenges of this role mean we seek developers with both iOS mastery and experience building high-performance, data-driven iOS apps.
- Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of professional iOS development experience
- Fluency in Swift and familiarity with modern UIKit/SwiftUI architectures
- Track record of shipping and supporting apps on the Apple App Store
- Experience deploying on-device machine learning with Core ML, MLX, or similar frameworks \
- Familiarity with mapping technologies
- Strong testing, debugging, and optimization skills for mission-critical apps
- Experience in developing offline first apps
Bonus Qualifications:
- Background or hands-on experience in aviation, navigation, or weather-related applications
- Experience with 3D graphics, Metal, OpenGL or other advanced graphics technologies
- Understanding of aviation data formats, regulations, or EFB use cases
- Experience in small, agile teams and product development cycles

Role Overview
As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ID.me’s mobile platform, working on products at the intersection of identity, commerce, and trust. You’ll contribute to the ongoing development of the ID.me Authenticator app, design and deliver iOS SDKs for both internal and external use, and work closely with senior technical leaders to bring the brand new ID.me Super App to life.
Your work will directly impact millions of users by enabling secure authentication, frictionless digital identity interactions, and new forms of engagement—all while upholding the highest standards of security, privacy, and usability.
This role is based in our Mountain View, CA office, 5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance the ID.me Authenticator app, focusing on performance, security, and user experience.
- Build and maintain reusable iOS SDKs that support internal applications and external partner integrations.
- Collaborate with senior technical leaders to implement the architecture and development of the ID.me Super App, which will span use cases including identity management, shopping, healthcare, and more.
- Implement secure authentication flows, including biometric login, passkeys, and multi-factor authentication.
- Apply best practices for security, privacy, and compliance in mobile development.
- Work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Security teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality solutions.
- Contribute to team best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of professional experience developing and shipping consumer-facing iOS applications at scale, with expertise in Swift, modern iOS frameworks (e.g., SwiftUI, Combine, UIKit), and architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, VIPER, Clean Architecture).
- Experience designing and delivering SDKs for third-party developers.
- Understanding of mobile security principles, including encryption, secure storage, and authentication protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government)
- Familiarity with digital wallets, biometric authentication, and passkey-based login.
- Exposure to greenfield product development and large-scale app launches.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and monitoring for mobile applications.
- Understanding of IAM compliance, data protection regulations, and App Store review guidelines.
The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.
