Job Summary
As a member of the drivers and utilities team you will contribute to the planning, design, implementation and testing of low level kernel drivers and user space driver library code. You will be part of one of the two teams in the system software department (the firmware team being the other one) and report to the drivers and utilities team manager.
The Team
The drivers and utilities team forms part of the system software group – working closely with both software engineers developing our Poplar SDK and with silicon and hardware engineers developing Graphcore’s IPU solution. The drivers and utilities team develop custom control software on the host in kernel and user space. Our solutions enable our customers to get maximum performance and utility for our cutting-edge products.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, implement, test and document OS Kernel and Device Driver software at the highest standard using C/C++/Python programming languages
- Participate in agile development – working as part of a scrum team to develop the right software at pace
- Communicate effectively and contribute regularly to technical discussions with your peers in software and hardware engineering, with architects and other stakeholders
- Hands-on during key product development phases involving close working with hardware and silicon engineering groups to enable fast time to market delivery
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven industry experience in software development using programming languages such as C/C++/Python
- OS Kernel and Device Driver development and deployment experience in Linux or Windows systems
- Good understanding of lower-level software stack and interactions with the hardware layer
- Possess effective problem-solving skills, familiar with a full suite of debug and performance analysis tools and techniques
- Experience with one or more of the following: PCIe, CPU, device drivers, SoC, firmware, and hardware/software integration
- Proactive in obtaining engineering or management input to solve issues
- Motivated to schedule own workload
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, work well within a multinational team and with multinational customers. Excellent cultural awareness is essential.
Desirable
- Experience developing firmware or drivers for GPUs.
- Knowledge of CUDA or OpenCL
- Experience working on upstreaming of kernel code / contributing to Linux kernel.
- Exposure to integration with data centre / cloud service operations – for example integration with Kubernetes or open stack.

Job Summary
As a System Software Engineer in Test, You will be responsible for design, development, execution and reporting of test and test harness to verify and validate firmware.
You will be involved with the development team from the early phases to the final production software and ensure maximum coverage of functionality.
You will be working with different Hardware configurations and required to collaborate closely with Hardware, bring up and drivers teams to ensure our firmware plugs in seamlessly.
As a senior member of the team, you will mentor junior members and raise the testing standards of the team.
The Team
Firmware QA team validates the low-level software responsible for the complete boot, configuration, and monitoring of Graphcore silicon and hardware platforms. Test areas include:
- Boot and power sequencing
- Low-level hardware interfaces and drivers
- Telemetry, monitoring and SMBus/BMC data exposure
- Silicon and system bring-up
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, Implement and deliver high quality tests for complex firmware features
- Support in debug and MTBF reduction of both internal and external incoming issues
- QA Ownership of Key features within the firmware
- Contribute to the continuous integration pipeline
- Support release test and release pipeline maintenance
- Active involvement in technical discussions and reviews for the team.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven Firmware test experience
- Experience working on real time embedded systems
- Hardware testing knowledge
- Experience with testing low level drivers and interfaces.
- Strong Proficiency in: C and Python.

Job Summary
Reporting to a Team Lead in the frameworks team you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, optimising, maintaining and supporting the software required to ensure the machine learning accelerators that Graphcore develop, enjoy first-class support in state-of-the-art machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Triton.
This role sees you joining our PyTorch team, where you will be part of a SCRUM team working on delivering new features, optimise performance, reviewing code changes, writing technical documentation, working with upstream communities, maintaining the code base and supporting users.
In this role you will closely collaborate with other engineers, both within the PyTorch team as well as other engineering teams. You help the team coordinate and deliver complex, open-ended technical tasks. You are pro-active and an excellent communicator. You will develop deep expertise in the PyTorch project and will (in time) contribute to the team’s technical direction and processes. You understand the importance of managing code quality and code complexity and balancing this against the need to deliver business outcomes.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Firmware Manager and working as a member of the Firmware Team, the Senior Staff Firmware Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complex firmware systems across Graphcore’s next-generation hardware platforms.
This role requires significant technical breadth and deep embedded systems expertise. You will contribute to shaping the firmware architecture and design, guide engineering practices, and solve highly challenging problems while maintaining a strong hands-on focus. You will partner closely with hardware, drivers, silicon and platform teams to deliver robust, scalable, production-quality firmware.
The Team
The Firmware Team develops the low-level software responsible for the complete boot, configuration, and monitoring of Graphcore silicon and hardware platforms. Our work includes:

- Provide technical leadership and act as a subject-matter expert for complex firmware features, subsystems, and architecture decisions
- Lead design and development of scalable, maintainable firmware solutions in C, contributing to long-term architecture and system strategy
- Own and deliver critical low-level functionality (e.g., boot flows, embedded real-time logic, platform security, silicon bring-up)
- Perform advanced system debugging using low-level tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analysers) and drive root-cause analysis for complex issues
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, silicon, platform, and external partners to define requirements and resolve integration challenges
- Ensure high standards of quality, reliability, and security through code reviews, validation improvements, CI/CD, and automated testing

Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Bachelor/Master's/PhD or equivalent experience in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Maths, Data Science, or related field.
- Proficiency in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch/JAX.
- Strong Python or C++ software development skills
- Expertise in deep learning from model training to optimisation and evaluation.
- Experience in distributed training or inference of ML models across 64+ accelerators.
- Capable of designing, executing and reporting from ML experiments.
- Developed deep understanding of performance bottlenecks and how to overcome them.

Job Summary
As a member of the drivers and utilities team you will contribute to the planning, design, implementation and testing of low level kernel drivers and user space driver library code. You will be part of one of the two teams in the system software department (the firmware team being the other one) and report to the drivers and utilities team manager.
The Team
The drivers and utilities team forms part of the system software group – working closely with both software engineers developing our Poplar SDK and with silicon and hardware engineers developing Graphcore’s IPU solution. The drivers and utilities team develop custom control software on the host in kernel and user space. Our solutions enable our customers to get maximum performance and utility for our cutting-edge products.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, implement, test and document OS Kernel and Device Driver software at the highest standard using C/C++/Python programming languages
- Participate in agile development – working as part of a scrum team to develop the right software at pace
- Communicate effectively and contribute regularly to technical discussions with your peers in software and hardware engineering, with architects and other stakeholders
- Hands-on during key product development phases involving close working with hardware and silicon engineering groups to enable fast time to market delivery
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven industry experience in software development using programming languages such as C/C++/Python
- OS Kernel and Device Driver development and deployment experience in Linux or Windows systems
- Good understanding of lower-level software stack and interactions with the hardware layer
- Possess effective problem-solving skills, familiar with a full suite of debug and performance analysis tools and techniques
- Experience with one or more of the following: PCIe, CPU, device drivers, SoC, firmware, and hardware/software integration

The Role
Support Engineer – End User Computing.
The End User Computing team look after all the technology used directly by humans in our organisation, such as the Windows and Linux desktops and Windows server infrastructure (including active directory, application deployment, clustered enterprise database systems, monitoring and automated build systems), audio-visual deployments, LAN, internet, and WiFi network environments and a wide range of enterprise applications (including e-mail, third-party productivity tools, and finance-specific applications). We exhibit special expertise in automation (predominantly in PowerShell, but also in python and other languages).
We currently operate 4 days a week in-office, 1 from home.
Responsibilities
- You will support our employees in their day-to-day use of the computer systems in our Bristol Office and offer remote support to other European offices as required.
- Perform day-to-day operations, support, and maintenance of our IT platform and cloud applications, including (but not limited to): Microsoft 365, Slack, Active Directory, Jira, VC Estate and other IT related systems.
- Co-own and continuously improve the onboarding processes for both users and hardware in the Bristol office.
- Co-Manage IT asset tracking and lifecycle processes (procurement, deployment, refresh, and disposal).
- Contribute to the global Windows platform, supporting standardisation, optimisation, and continuous improvement.
- Diagnose and resolve issues across:
- Windows desktops and servers.
- Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Hardware and peripherals.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions to improve efficiency and scalability, including:
- Automated builds and provisioning.
- Configuration management.
- Patch management and application deployment.
- Monitoring, observability, and performance tooling.
Once fully integrated into the business, there is an on-call rota to provide IT coverage, this includes occasional weekend support/maintenance tasks. Approximately once every 6 weeks with time off in lieu the following week.
Essential Attributes
We estimate that you will have at least 5 years’ experience in a relevant technical role and you will have many of the following technical skills:
- Relevant experience administering Windows environments, including:
- Active Directory.
- Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Identity, Intune, Purview, Exchange, Teams, …).
- Windows 11, Windows Server (2019 / 2022 / 2025).
- Solid PowerShell scripting skills for automation.
- Experience with endpoint management tools:
- SCCM.
- Microsoft Intune (OS and application deployment/management).
- Familiarity with Linux command line environments.
- Working knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and Cisco CLI commands.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Due to the nature of the role, you will be occasionally required to move, lift, rack and install equipment (pc’s, switches, servers).

This could be a few months at the beginning, reducing thereafter to less regular trips. Alternatively, this could be a few weeks at the start and regular periods (2 weeks in every 4) thereafter. XTX would cover all associated costs.
