Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Virtualisation Engineer to manage our corporate and engineering virtualisation platforms. These platforms support core services like Active Directory, DNS, source-control systems, and Kubernetes clusters. You will ensure the reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of our VM and container platforms.
A key part of this role involves owning and managing our VDI environment for high-performance EDA CAD workloads. Experience with Omnissa Horizon or a similar virtual desktop platform is required. You will also manage the VM fleet daily, including provisioning, automation, patching, incident response, and optimization. Experience with VMware Tanzu or other Kubernetes orchestration platforms is highly valued. A strong automation approach is important to streamline deployment and simplify operations.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and maintain the corporate virtualisation platforms supporting core services.
- Run, track, and improve Kubernetes platforms (VMware Tanzu or alternatives).
- Manage the VDI environment used for EDA CAD workloads (Omnissa Horizon or similar).
- Carry out lifecycle tasks throughout the VM fleet, including provisioning, patching, and fault resolution.
- Automate deployment and operational processes (Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, Python, etc.).
- Automation of CI/CD based image/template creation to generate known secure images.
- Implement monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimisation for hypervisors and virtual workloads.
- Diagnose intricate problems spanning virtualisation, network, and storage domains.
- Work with vendors on upgrades, support cases, and platform evaluations.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- 5+ years experience coordinating enterprise virtualisation platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi or equivalent.
- Experience handling VDI deployments at scale (Omnissa Horizon or VMware Horizon preferred).
- Experience managing core infrastructure (AD, DNS, SCM) in virtualised environments.
- Proficient in automation tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, Python, and others.
- Strong problem-solving abilities across compute, network, and storage.
- Experience with patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
- Strong understanding of security architecture, hardening practices, and risk mitigation within virtualised environments.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting semiconductor or HPC/EDA environments.
- Familiarity with GPU-accelerated VDI or compute workloads.
- Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).
- Understanding of high-performance networking (10/25/40/100GbE, RDMA, etc.).
- Experience with crafting sandbox environments for security and DR testing work, for example.
- Understanding of Kubernetes platforms (Tanzu, OpenShift, Rancher, etc.).

We are seeking a Thermal Engineer with deep experience in data centre or high-density system design, someone who can guide and shape the development of advanced cooling architectures. You might be a mechanical engineer who has specialised in thermal design, or a thermal systems expert with strong modelling and integration experience. Either way, you’ll be comfortable leading design direction and working hands-on with suppliers, prototypes, and test rigs. We are open to a contractor or permanent hires, we are most interested in finding someone who can add real expertise when it’s needed, help define the right path, and guide the build of a robust, production-ready cooling solution.
The Role
You will lead the design of an advanced cooling system for a high-density AI accelerator system destined for data centre deployment. This includes developing the full cooling architecture — from Direct-to-Chip (D2C) liquid cooling through to rack-level thermal management and hybrid liquid-air solutions for host chassis. You’ll collaborate closely with mechanical engineers (internal and external), chip and board designers, and 3rd-party suppliers to define requirements, review designs, and ensure that every aspect of the system — from the cold plate up — meets performance, reliability, and manufacturability goals. We expect you to bring a mix of technical authority, practical design sense, and strong supplier management skills. You may also lead or advise on the development of a thermal test platform to validate solutions in real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and specification of an advanced cooling solution for dense AI hardware systems
- Work closely with 3rd-party suppliers to define thermal and mechanical requirements and review proposed solutions
- Contribute to mechanical system design — specifying chassis interfaces, manifold routing, fittings, and integration details
- Model and simulate thermal performance at cold plate, chassis, and rack levels

We build the control chain that powers on, monitors, updates, and protects devices and racks across bare metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux. It’s production-critical software that keeps racks stable, updates safe, and hardware secure. It’s a critical layer in turning a tokens per second benchmark into a tokens per month system, turning great silicon into reliable output at rack scale.
You’ll be there for the first racks coming to life and rollout days where update safety matters. Your work makes the difference between a bad failure and a clean recovery path. This is the work that makes the system something operators can trust.
What you’ll do
- Develop firmware and services for management controllers at every level: rack management, BMC, and board/device controllers (RTOS and bare metal)
- Build systems software for board and rack management, from early bring-up through to production deployment
- Implement the critical flows that keep fleets healthy: power-on and provisioning, monitoring/telemetry, updates, recovery, and security
- Integrate with the wider host/device stack (drivers and runtime libraries) so the system works end-to-end
- Work closely with hardware and device software teams to define reliable interfaces, validate behaviour, and debug boundary issues
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience shipping production-critical, reliable embedded systems across two or more of: bare metal, RTOS, embedded Linux (or deep expertise in one with clear ability to ramp the others)
- Strong C and/or Rust, and excellent engineering judgement around safety, testing, debugging, and failure modes
- A reliability-first mindset: you design for observability, diagnosability, and recovery paths that are predictable and testable
- Comfortable working close to the hardware/software boundary (bootloaders/BSP/kernel-adjacent work) and collaborating tightly with HW, driver, and runtime teams
- Collaborative and high-ownership. You communicate clearly, move fast, and enjoy working through hard problems with others
- Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Maths, Physics, or related degree and 3+ years of industry experience
Nice to have
- Embedded platform / systems firmware experience (board management, BMC-style stacks, rack controllers)

- Security-minded, with practical instincts around secure boot, signed updates, device identity, and designing systems that fail safe and recover cleanly (direct experience in some areas is a plus)

About the role:
We are creating a new team of Rust engineers to work on greenfield software with members having scope to influence architecture, direction and engineering practices from day one.
In this role, you will:
- Write Rust server side software to build a reference implementation of a full AI inference stack specifically tuned to take advantage of the hardware we are building, including a Linux kernel driver in Rust. The hardware will be housed in data centres so the remit of work includes building out all the required cloud based tooling as well.
- You will be expected to conduct your own research into the state of the art in AI inference and implement these ideas. You will be encouraged to take initiative and make sense of difficult problems in unfamiliar areas.
What we are looking for:
- We are looking for creative problem solvers and generalists who have the grit to tackle hard problems.
- Experience in serving AI workloads (for example vLLM, SGLang or Rust equivalents) or strong systems level engineering experience. If you don’t have AI experience then experience in a wide range of complimentary industries would also be beneficial. Specifically experience moving large amounts of data around in real time at low latency, paging, caching etc.
- We will consider candidates without commercial Rust experience as long as they are strong senior developers in another systems language (e.g. C/C++ etc.) and can demonstrate proficiency in Rust through open source contributions and/or personal projects.
If you have a portfolio of Rust projects that you have authored and can share then this will help in the selection process.
We will not subject you to online algorithmic-style testing but any interview will be very technical and you will be expected to have a background in computer science and a deep understanding of Rust. PCB Layout & Design Execution
- Create PCB layouts for complex, multi-layer boards supporting high-speed digital and high-power circuits
- Own component placement, routing, and constraint implementation from concept through manufacturing release

High-Speed Signal Integrity

Key Responsibilities

The firmware team writes the software that ensures the full and complete bootup of Graphcore Hardware and Silicon. We design and maintain interfaces to allow our Drivers software to interact with Graphcore Silicon. Within this team, the Lead Data Engineer plays a key role in evolving the platform, setting engineering standards and delivering robust solutions that scale with business needs.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the design, build and evolution of robust data pipelines and platform services that support analytics, reporting and operational use cases across Graphcore.
- Own the data engineering stack, planning and delivering improvements to reliability, scalability, maintainability, performance and security.
- Build and operate Python-based batch and streaming workflows, with clear approaches to orchestration, testing, deployment, monitoring and incident resolution.
- Design and implement data solutions on AWS using services such as S3, Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL, Athena, Glue and Redshift, ensuring they are secure, resilient and cost-conscious.
- Define and apply engineering standards for data quality, observability, documentation, release processes and operational support.
- Partner with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into trusted datasets, well-structured data models and reusable data products.
- Drive improvements to platform resilience through approaches such as idempotent processing, retry and recovery mechanisms, buffering strategies and backfill or replay capabilities.
- Lead technical decision-making in your area by reviewing designs and code, sharing expertise and helping to raise the quality bar for data engineering across the team.
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows and development practices that enable safe, repeatable and efficient delivery of data infrastructure and workflows.
- Ensure appropriate data protection and access controls are in place, including least-privilege access, secure secrets handling and suitable database permissions.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and lightweight applications that improve access to data and support self-serve workflows.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Firmware Manager and working as a member of the Firmware Team, the Senior Staff Firmware Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complex firmware systems across Graphcore’s next-generation hardware platforms.
This role requires significant technical breadth and deep embedded systems expertise. You will contribute to shaping the firmware architecture and design, guide engineering practices, and solve highly challenging problems while maintaining a strong hands-on focus. You will partner closely with hardware, drivers, silicon and platform teams to deliver robust, scalable, production-quality firmware.
The Team
The Firmware Team develops the low-level software responsible for the complete boot, configuration, and monitoring of Graphcore silicon and hardware platforms. Our work includes:
- Boot and power sequencing
- Low-level hardware interfaces and drivers
- Telemetry, monitoring and SMBus/BMC data exposure
- Silicon and system bring-up
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide technical leadership and act as a subject-matter expert for complex firmware features, subsystems, and architecture decisions
- Lead design and development of scalable, maintainable firmware solutions in C, contributing to long-term architecture and system strategy
- Own and deliver critical low-level functionality (e.g., boot flows, embedded real-time logic, platform security, silicon bring-up)
- Perform advanced system debugging using low-level tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analysers) and drive root-cause analysis for complex issues
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, silicon, platform, and external partners to define requirements and resolve integration challenges
- Ensure high standards of quality, reliability, and security through code reviews, validation improvements, CI/CD, and automated testing

Salary: £65,000 - £95,000 DOE
Location: 3 days onsite in Bristol, 2 days from home

The Role
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining resilient systems that support critical operations. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our platforms are scalable, secure, and reliable.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, improve system performance, and contribute to meaningful projects.
