Job Summary
As a System Software Engineer in Test, You will be responsible for design, development, execution and reporting of test and test harness to verify and validate firmware.
You will be involved with the development team from the early phases to the final production software and ensure maximum coverage of functionality.
You will be working with different Hardware configurations and required to collaborate closely with Hardware, bring up and drivers teams to ensure our firmware plugs in seamlessly.
As a senior member of the team, you will mentor junior members and raise the testing standards of the team.
The Team
Firmware QA team validates the low-level software responsible for the complete boot, configuration, and monitoring of Graphcore silicon and hardware platforms. Test areas include:
- Boot and power sequencing
- Low-level hardware interfaces and drivers
- Telemetry, monitoring and SMBus/BMC data exposure
- Silicon and system bring-up
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, Implement and deliver high quality tests for complex firmware features
- Support in debug and MTBF reduction of both internal and external incoming issues
- QA Ownership of Key features within the firmware
- Contribute to the continuous integration pipeline
- Support release test and release pipeline maintenance
- Active involvement in technical discussions and reviews for the team.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven Firmware test experience
- Experience working on real time embedded systems
- Hardware testing knowledge
- Experience with testing low level drivers and interfaces.
- Strong Proficiency in: C and Python.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, good work ethics, high sense of teamwork, love to produce quality work and commitment to finish your tasks every single day. You are a self-starter who loves to find creative solutions to challenging problems.
Desirable
- Experience with server architecture or datacentre hardware
- Knowledge of server security concepts
- Experience in Platform security and openBMC.

The Team
The ML QA team is composed of highly skilled software engineers with a strong focus on automation, software quality, and data-driven validation. The team works closely with industry-standard machine learning frameworks and models, contributing to upstream open-source projects and collaborating across the wider software organization.
Operating in a fast-paced environment, the team plays a critical role in ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability across the ML software stack, helping to deliver robust and high-quality products to customers.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, implement, and maintain robust test infrastructure and automation for a complex ML software stack.
- Architect and evolve test frameworks and tooling with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines targeting simulators, emulators (e.g. QEMU), and physical hardware.
- Create representative ML workloads and gain insights from their execution. (Numerical accuracy, performance analysis and benchmarking).
- Work closely with all Software development teams, supporting a culture of quality, security and maintainability.
- Review code and designs, setting a high bar for software engineering best practices.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, helping raise the overall technical capability of the team.
- Evaluate existing test strategies and infrastructure, identifying gaps and driving improvements aligned with team and organizational goals.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Experience in production-quality software engineering roles.
- Strong software design and architecture skills, with experience working on large or complex systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including experience building and maintaining production codebases.
- Solid experience with CI/CD systems and automated testing (preferably GitHub-based workflows).
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with C or C++, with the ability to read, debug, and reason about low-level code when needed.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and influence engineering practices within a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-directed approach to work.

Job Summary
Join our dynamic Software Infrastructure team and take a pivotal role in scaling and managing our infrastructure. You will develop essential tools and services that empower our broader software team. Your contributions will enhance the build, test, deployment, and productisation processes of our Machine Learning Software components. The Team
An exciting opportunity to join a new team within the Software Operations group. The Build Engineering team is a new function within Software Infrastructure, which focuses on the overall process of building and integration of the Machine Learning Software Stack. You will work closely with the QA and development teams to get an understanding of how our ML SW stack is built, helping to ensure good build practices, and proving that the stack works together and is reproducible in secure, sandboxed environments.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Developing our internal tooling for building, testing and integrating together the ML Software Stack
- Developing tools and technical processes for Software Releases
- Providing guidance to developers on best build practices and dependency management
- Communicating regularly with developers, tech leads, and software architects about aspects of the ML Software Stack
- Working closely with QA and the ML Software Stack to resolve any integration issues
- Contributing fixes towards the ML Software Stack

Our aim is to produce high quality software and APIs that enable the wider software team to utilise our products efficiently and effectively. The Firmware and Drivers teams form the foundation of the Graphcore software stack, upon which all our customer-facing systems are built and run.
The Team
The Drivers and Utilities team develop kernel and user space software to allow our customers to get maximum performance and utility from our unique hardware. We work closely with the software engineering team developing our Poplar SDK to support machine learning applications and with silicon and hardware engineers to fully exploit the capabilities of our Graphcore IPU solution.

- Ensure all code written has the appropriate unit tests created for it
- Participate in code reviews individually and as part of the team

This is a hand-on technical role requiring a solid background in the use of cloud infrastructure, deployment using Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, high-performance networkingand storage systems. You may have been working in an IT organisation, a datacentre, a cloud provider or as a developer of orchestration or cloud services.
The Software Platform team at Graphcore
We build Graphcore products into large-scale AI solutions for our customers and the Cloud Platform Team is responsible for providing such systems to both internal users via private clouds and customers via our own public clouds. Often the internal systems will be using and developing pre-release hardware and software, so it’s vital you are comfortable with unproven components.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and operate high-performance ethernet infrastructure on our private clouds and support internal users in their use. You will turn end-user and product requirements into deployed services.
- Help to build automation to collect and analyse metrics and other data from the network infrastructure to support clear identification and reporting of any issues. Work with users to provide information of any product-related issues to Engineering and QA departments.
- Work with our Datacentre Operations Engineers to maintain, tune and operate the fleet of AI systems at peak performance in our private clouds.
- Work with external vendors of off-the-shelf switches, servers and storage solutions to integrate 3rd party products into our Cloud Reference Design, with a focus on network performance, automation and resilience.
Skills and Experience (all required)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant subject.
- Significant hands-on experience with 1 or more vendor’s high-end (100Gb/s+) ethernet switch solutions.
- Experience managing on-premises or private-cloud environments.
- Solid software engineering or IT experience with a proven track record of delivering technical output as an individual contributor.
- Experience working in an AGILE and SCRUM framework, including understanding of priorities, risks, issues, impacts and constraints.
- Strong proven Linux scripting ability (bash, python, awk, sed).
- Strong proven Linux system administration (Ubuntu, RHEL and variants).
- Experience with a version control system (preferably Git) and using it to manage system configuration or automation.
- Experience with Continuous Integration or testing pipelines using GitLab, GitHub or similar.
- A solid hands-on understanding of the technologies underpinning cloud services (APIs, virtualisation of CPUs, IO, systems) and how they relate to high-performance networking.
- Experience with IAC automation tools (Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible).
- Experience with container deployment and management tools (e.g. docker).
- Experience with solutions for monitoring and observability. e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch, Loki.
- Good communication and presentation skills, and experience dealing with end-users of IT services.
- An ability to work independently on critical infrastructure with minimal oversight, and with a focus on end-user availability.
Desirable but not required:
- Experience with Openstack cloud platforms.
- Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) environments using SLURM or similar batch workload solutions.
- Experience with hardware offloading on RDMA-capable NICs and how that integrates with virtual networking on Open V-switch, KVM/QEMU.
- Experience with managing production Kubernetes clusters and workloads with an automation tool such as ArgoCD.

- Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
- Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
- Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate support for accessibility APIs (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or other relevant Windows accessibility frameworks), ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities.
- Collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term roadmap for the Windows platform.
- Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception → design → implementation → testing → release → maintenance. Ensure quality, reliability, and consistency across releases.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems — and propose robust architectural or design solutions.
Required:
- 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).

- Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).

Overview
With the growth of our Android app, being the most used text-to-speech app in the Play Store, we find the need for a Senior Android Engineer to help us support the new user base as well as work on new and exciting projects to push us forward.
