About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Payroll, Compensation & Benefits Intern who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This internship presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.
As an intern on the People Operations team, you will work directly with the Senior Director of Payroll & Benefits, gaining hands-on exposure to multi-country payroll operations, compensation administration, and benefits management across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This is a learning-focused role designed to develop the next generation of People Operations talent at Sezzle, with a clear pathway for full-time conversion based on performance.
What You’ll Do:
Support end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries (US, Canada, Colombia), including data entry, reconciliation, and documentation.
Assist with benefits enrollment, terminations, and employee lifecycle changes in our HRIS and benefits platforms.
Perform data quality checks across payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and benefits audits, including preparing supporting documentation and reconciling variances.
Assist with compensation research and benchmarking, including compiling market data for the annual compensation review cycle.
Help manage vendor invoices, track reconciliations, and prepare payment requests for payroll and benefits providers.
Maintain employee files and records in accordance with local legal and regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction.
Support compliance workstreams, including ERISA, ACA, FLSA and Colombian labor law, through data preparation and documentation.
Document and map payroll, compensation, and benefits processes to identify automation and efficiency opportunities.
Participate in AI and automation initiatives within the People Operations function, including testing new tools and contributing to process improvements.
Support ad-hoc People Operations projects as they relate to Sezzle's growth, Utah Industrial Loan Company (ILC) bank charter readiness, and international expansion.
