About the Role

Platform Science is looking for a Medior Software Engineer for their Core Product Development team in Leuven, Belgium. In this role, you will be involved as a full stack developer in the Design & Development of Video Intelligence solutions, and will also work on integrating with and enhancing the various other software products developed by Platform Science - EU. This is a highly collaborative position where you will coordinate implementation with feature development teams in Brazil and the US. This is a full-time position.

Essential Responsibilities

• You participate in the complete product development cycle starting from analysis, architecture, design, coding, unit integration and system testing of software.

Joining Collibra’s Platform Infrastructure Engineering team

Collibra's Platform Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the essential cloud foundation underpinning all Collibra products, reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Platform Infrastructure Engineering. Your work is vital to evolving our multi-cloud platform infrastructure strategy. You will optimize our use of Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform/Helm), and Golang automation to ensure maximum operational efficiency and resilience for Collibra. Staff Platform Engineers at Collibra are responsible for

• Lead the design and evolution of the cloud platform across AWS and GCP (Kubernetes, networking, and core infrastructure) in order to enable product teams to build, deploy, and operate services with speed, consistency, and minimal friction

• Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, routing, load balancing, WAFs, network policies).
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and software development in Golang.
• Experience managing or supporting the underlying infrastructure for stateful applications (e.g., databases like GraphDB, kafka) on cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud security principles (IAM, security groups).
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience.

What you’ll do 

• As a part of the team, you'll be taking part in the continuous development of the products that are in the care of your team.
• Day to day, this means developing new user stories, fixing bugs, creating & reviewing pull requests, documenting your work (code comments, readme, confluence,..), performing research, making suggestions for product improvements and communicating clearly about your progress.
• Together with your colleagues, you'll be making sure the product meets all functional and non-functional requirements.
• As an engineer, you understand that producing clean, readable, and testable code is always a priority.
• Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) in your development workflow to enhance code writing, support code reviews, and improve productivity.

Who you are 

• Strong knowledge of C# and .NET 6+ (3-5 years minimum).
• Good working knowledge of Docker.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Amazon Web Services).
• Use AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor and others) to support your daily development work and improve code quality.
• Exposure to database technologies such as Redis, MongoDB, or InfluxDB.
• Some experience with messaging and broker systems (Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Familiarity with Terraform, Go, or Elastic Search is a plus.
• You hold a master or bachelor degree in Computer Science/Informatics (or equal through a proven track record).
• You have a good understanding of common software engineering practices, like OOP principles, modern design patterns, test-driven development, continuous integration and continuous deployment.
• You value clean code and clean architecture principles, and strive to produce clean, readable and testable code.
• You're eager to learn new things, share your knowledge, adapt to change and learn from past experiences.
• You're able to work effectively in a team and are always open to feedback from your teammates.
• You understand the importance of application security and data security, and know how that affects your job.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and English.

What you’ll do 

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services that power our applications. You will work closely with frontend engineers, DevOps professionals, and cloud architects to ensure a seamless and efficient development process. You should also be a strong technical mentor, supporting and guiding colleagues to help the team grow.

• Design, develop, and implement backend APIs using secure and efficient programming languages and frameworks.
• Migrate and manage cloud infrastructure on platforms like AWS.
• Automate backend deployments and infrastructure provisioning using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Optimize cloud resource utilization for cost-effectiveness and scalability.
• Implement robust security measures to protect applications and data in the cloud (OWASP).
• Troubleshoot and debug complex backend issues.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in cloud technologies.
• Effectively integrate AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) into the development workflow to enhance code writing, code reviews, and overall productivity.
• Act as a mentor for colleagues, providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to help the team grow.

Who you are 

• Excellent knowledge of TypeScript (5+ years of experience).
• Proven experience working with cloud platforms like AWS.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good knowledge of authentication technologies, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
• Strong knowledge of database technologies, both relational and NoSQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Good understanding of messaging and broker systems (Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SNS, SQS).
• Solid understanding of security concepts and best practices (OWASP).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including infrastructure-as-code, observability, and CI/CD.
• Good understanding of quality engineering practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion for building high-quality, scalable, and secure software.
• Advanced use of AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate software delivery, refine algorithmic solutions, and critically validate AI-generated output.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) is an asset.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and English.
