Today, nearly 200 people around the globe work on Speechify in a 100% distributed setting – Speechify has no office. These include frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and others from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, leading PhD programs like Stanford, high growth startups like Stripe, Vercel, Bolt, and many founders of their own companies
- Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
- Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
- Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate support for accessibility APIs (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or other relevant Windows accessibility frameworks), ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for users with disabilities.
- Collaborate closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term roadmap for the Windows platform.
- Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception → design → implementation → testing → release → maintenance. Ensure quality, reliability, and consistency across releases.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems — and propose robust architectural or design solutions.
Required:
- 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
- Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed code (.NET) and native code.
- Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).
- Experience leading technical design, mentoring other engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
- Strong communication skills; ability to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive consensus.
- A user-centric mindset: focus on building polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences for end users.
Preferred / Bonus:
- Experience with writing automated tests for UI — unit tests, integration tests, UI automation tests; familiarity with relevant testing frameworks.
- Experience with performance optimization for desktop apps (memory usage, startup time, rendering performance, high-DPI support, responsiveness under load).
- Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI support, internationalization, accessibility for multiple regions.
- Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop applications.
- Previous experience in shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of feature areas or modules and drive them long-term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.

Within our broader Engineering organization, this pivotal role will drive the design, implementation, and comprehensive management of our enterprise cloud infrastructure. You will provide technical leadership to a team of highly skilled engineers, automating and maintaining a vast computing environment that supports our core decision platform for customers ranging from emerging startups to large-scale enterprises processing millions of transactions. Responsibilities:
Pioneer AI-Driven Infrastructure
- Build the future: Architect and integrate LLM-powered, agentic tools into our platform ecosystem. You will design self-healing infrastructure and automated root-cause analysis workflows to drastically reduce operational toil and accelerate incident resolution.
Architect for Scale, Security, & Reliability
- Evolve the ecosystem: Drive the strategic roadmap for our GCP and Kubernetes-based cloud capabilities, balancing direct developer feedback with emerging cloud technologies.
- Drive operational excellence: Define, build, and maintain rigorous system Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and incident management processes. You will share ownership of platform health by participating in on-call rotations, using those frontline insights to continuously harden our systems.
- Embed security: Design transparent platform security (access controls, encryption, vulnerability management) that keeps the platform secure without slowing down developer velocity.
- Optimize footprint: Manage cloud capacity and FinOps proactively, offering efficient scaling solutions and cost transparency to engineering teams.
Elevate Developer Experience (DevEx)
- Productize the platform: Transform CI/CD (GitHub Actions, TeamCity), deployment (ArgoCD), and build tooling into a cohesive, self-service product that drives Change Failure Rates (CFR) to zero.
- Pave the golden path: Embed platform standards directly into our tooling so that the "right way" is automatically the fastest and easiest way for our software engineers.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Solve systemic problems: Provide high-level, solutions-oriented support by troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and delivering resilient, product-level fixes.
- Champion the culture: Foster a customer-focused engineering environment. You will mentor junior team members and advocate for product-thinking and deep empathy for the developer experience.
Requirements:
Cloud & Infrastructure Mastery
- Cloud Platform: Deep proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is required; AWS experience is a strong plus. You have in-depth knowledge of cloud networking, protocols, and security best practices.
- Kubernetes: Extensive expertise operating both self-managed and cloud-managed Kubernetes architectures at scale.
- Data Systems: Experience managing and scaling robust data storage and streaming technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka).
Software Engineering & DevEx
- Coding Proficiency: Strong software development skills in high-level languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript) combined with modern development practices.
- IaC & GitOps: Proven ability to build secure, self-service infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and declarative CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, TeamCity) to deploy with confidence and drive down CFR.
Observability & AI-Fluency
- AI Tooling: Proficiency using modern AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude). Crucially, you possess the architectural critical thinking required to audit AI-generated code for security, correctness, and long-term maintainability.
Telemetry: Experience designing scalable, OpenTelemetry-based monitoring and tracing frameworks that equip engineering teams to swiftly pinpoint bottlenecks and lower MTTR.

What you’ll do
- Lead the design and build-out of cross-product data services for multiple product lines from one governed data plane.
- Define the “customer data plane” model: canonical customer identifiers, shared dimensions, and consistent facts used across products.
- Build and operationalize ingestion patterns for batch, streaming, and event data, with repeatable onboarding for new sources.
- Own the operational playbook for data reliability: data contracts, quality checks, lineage, monitoring, and incident response.
- Implement and run access methods that make data usable: curated datasets, secure query interfaces, and product-ready data APIs where needed.
- Productize customer-facing data products (datasets, metrics, exports, and feeds) with versioning, documentation, and clear ownership.
- Design data models that fit both operational systems (RDS) and analytics stores (columnar/OLAP), including performance and cost tuning.
- Ensure data products also power ML workflows: trusted training datasets, feature-ready outputs, and consistent definitions for decision-making.
- Enable AI automation by delivering reliable, low-latency, governed data products that can be used safely in automated workflows.
- Partner closely with product, engineering, and security stakeholders to align data products to roadmap priorities and customer outcomes.
- Raise the technical bar through architecture reviews, standards, and mentoring—while staying hands-on in key systems.
Required
- Significant experience building and operating production data platforms at scale, including on-call and operational ownership.
- Strong SQL skills and strong Python skills, used to build pipelines, services, and automation.
- Hands-on experience running cloud systems on AWS and Google Cloud (IaaS level: compute, storage, networking, IAM).
- Practical experience with both operational databases (RDS-style) and analytics stores (columnar/OLAP), including performance tuning.
- Strong data modeling ability, including schema evolution, conformed dimensions, and “one source of truth” metric definitions.
- Track record of delivering data products that other teams or customers depend on, with clear contracts and reliability expectations.
- Ability to make sound engineering tradeoffs across latency, accuracy, cost, and security without creating brittle complexity.
- Experience with lakehouse patterns and open table formats (or similar), including governance and table maintenance.
- Experience with orchestration and streaming systems used in production (batch + real-time), and managing backfills safely.
- Familiarity with ML data needs (training/serving splits, feature-ready datasets, evaluation datasets) and AI-adjacent workflows.
Preferred
- Experience building self-service data platforms (catalog, discoverability, access controls) used by multiple teams.
