What you’ll do

You are the technical keystone through the entire sales cycle - pre and post sales. You will work closely with our Enterprise prospects and customers in Greater China region to educate, empower, and ensure their success on the Cloudflare platform. You will leverage your technical expertise in Cloudflare’s global distributed network and technology to find best-fit solutions for prospects, to train and onboard new customers via video-conference, in person, or through documentation, and to support the long-term success of the customer. As an expert on web/mobile security and performance, you are a trusted source for developing new firewall rules from log files, crafting performance caching and delivery strategies, and creating or repurposing internal tools and scripts for customers.

As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare. To aid your customers, you will work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. Your goal of customer success should drive you through the entire organization as you seek out and create scalable solutions for your customer’s needs.

Bonus Points

• Previous experience in a sales or consulting role covering East China region. 
• Fluency in Mandarin and English to support regional customers;
• Demonstrated experience with a scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Bash) and a desire to expand those skills;
• You've built a web application before, or contributed to an existing application in a meaningful way;
• You can describe the differences between CSRF, XSS and SQLi in detail, and Cloudflare's role in defending against them;
• Understanding of, or experience with, regulatory requirements such a PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC-2;

Software has moved to play a central role in network technology. From outstanding routing implementations like Bird and FRR to overlay networking technology such as OVN/OVS and Cilium, from kernel with SwitchDev to userspace with DPDK, from P4 to OpenFlow, the relationship between network innovation and software continues to deepen. We are building teams to bring the very best open source networking software to market in a well integrated and opinionated stack that brings the latest hyperscaler innovation to end users and enterprise customers.

We work with networking silicon providers to optimize Ubuntu and related applications for their ASICs, boards and appliances. We aim to provide a complete open source stack for data center networking, from bare metal through virtualization, container and serverless, and also to address IoT networking systematically.

You will have a good chance of success if you are an outstanding software engineer, passionate about networking, with a special interest in the interface of hardware ASICs for acceleration and software for innovation and control. We value experience in open switch initiatives such as SoNIC and DENT, and upstream experience with components such as routing, kernel networking, eBPF, DNS, firewalls and load balancers. Our selection process is rigorous and requires work from the candidate as six to eight interviews over a period of months. Are you fascinated by the chance to make a real impact on millions of Ubuntu users? We are looking for a passionate Linux kernel engineer to join our team and help us bring Ubuntu to the next generation of hardware. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality kernel support for a wide range of hardware devices. You will also work with upstream developers and driver vendors to integrate the latest hardware support into Ubuntu.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an engineer to leverage their software engineering skills on cutting-edge hardware. We collaborate with world-leading OEM partners to deliver Ubuntu on their next generation of laptops, desktops, and workstations. You will tackle complex issues spanning a wide range of consumer components, from Wi-Fi and Thunderbolt docks to BIOS and UEFI. Additionally, you will face challenges in achieving optimal power efficiency and performance.

You will have the chance to explore the latest architecture and platform technologies from Intel, AMD and other silicon vendors, enabling them in Ubuntu and ultimately delivering them to the world. As part of this position, you will be expected to closely collaborate with upstream kernel maintainers and hardware vendors in analysing root causes, developing fixes, and submitting patches for review.
     

Location: This is a role based in either our Taipei, Taiwan or Beijing, China offices.                 

What your day will look like

• Collaborate regularly and proactively with a globally distributed team 
• Work closely with external silicon and hardware manufacturer delivery teams on bleeding edge Desktop, Laptop, and Server platforms
• Diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by QA, customers and the community
• Enable new Linux kernel features as requested by customers
• Submit, review, and apply kernel patches, working with both internal and external upstream maintainers

What we are looking for in you

• Demonstrated ability to present oneself in a professional manner when interacting with colleagues, business partners, and the open source community
