We are a leading eco-friendly household essentials business and we donate 50% of our profits to help everyone gain access to clean water and a toilet. As of June 2024, we’ve contributed over $18 million AUD to this mission. Basically, we’re really good at making it easy to do good.

We operate scaling businesses the UK, US, Australia and Canada. Our amazing team is based in Australia, the UK, the Philippines, China, and the US. Our 250+ people aim to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. A bit about the role

As our Head of Marketing Operations, you are the strategic architect and steady hand steering our marketing engine through a pivotal year of evolution. This isn't just about keeping the lights on; it’s about building the systems and ways of working that empower our newly formed team to thrive. You will balance high-level transformation with hands-on execution, ensuring our global impact remains world-class. Your mission is to establish robust operational systems that endure well beyond your 12-month tenure, ensuring everything runs like a well-oiled machine 

If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in

• Architecting the Future: Designing and launching our brand-new resourcing function, including the successful hiring and onboarding of our Resource Controller.
• Cross Functional Alignment: Partnering with stakeholders across the organisation in planning sessions to synchronise the marketing calendar with global business objectives.  
• Pipeline Transparency: developing a rolling six-month resourcing roadmap; working alongside Program Directors and the Resource Controller to ensure Executive and XFN teams have a clear, unified view of creative and marketing capacity. 
• Process Optimisation: Identifying interdependencies between systems to create seamless, standardized workflows that make it easier for XFN teams to collaborate with Marketing.
• Strategic Guardrails: establishing upstream decision making and escalation processes to ensure outputs are aligned, complete, and clear at point of delivery 
• Financial Partnership: Navigating budget tracking and forecasting in close collaboration with the Finance team to ensure our global campaigns stay on track.
• Coaching & Leadership: Creating the space for your team to problem-solve, helping them build the autonomy needed to manage resource functions independently.

The Problems You’ll Solve 

• Help provide leverage to our clients by understanding and prioritizing their needs while effectively scaling our CFO services. Some of the strategic support that we provide includes:
• Capital calls and distributions
• Audit/tax support
• Pre/post close services
• Quarterly and annual financials
• Limited Partner communications
• Bring transparency to founders, VCs, established General Partners and LPs and help our clients make more accurate decisions by helping them utilize our tools and resources such as:
• Real-time IRR
• Real-time portfolio data
• Provide additional data points (TVPI, RVPI)
• Improve our product and software through working with our product and engineering teams to continue to develop our Venture Capital product suite
• Turn a service industry into a software business through consulting with clients and implementing our Fund Administration software
• Interact with clients on a daily basis and manage an effective client relationship
• Interact with external auditors and tax providers
• Review all client deliverables, including financial packages, capital calls, distributions and ad-hoc client requests
• Assist Senior Director to execute new and current processes within the team 
• Ensure the accounting team is SOC compliant in all processes and procedures 

The Impact You’ll Have

Our goal is to position Carta as the leading Fund Administration group. As a Fund Controller at Carta, you will be part of a highly dynamic team to support our goal and the future of the Fund Administration business. In this role, you will partner with top venture capital/private equity firms to streamline their financial accounting needs. You will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with our product, engineering, go-to-market and operation teams, all while growing your foundational knowledge of accounting in an engaging, fast-paced environment. You will also help mentor our junior team members.

About You

• 8+  years of experience in the Venture Capital, Private Equity industry
• You have experience maintaining, managing and nurturing multiple client relationships
• You’re interested in providing best-in-class-service 
• You have experience interpreting and understanding Limited Partnership Agreements, Private Placement Memorandum
• You have experience reviewing financial statements and footnotes, ensuring consistency with appropriate reporting framework
• You have experience in understanding, interpreting and working on Waterfall calculations, management fees, and carried interest allocations
• You have experience in working on complex entity structures and report consolidations
• You have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
• You take pride in your ability to communicate effectively and are able to multitask to meet multiple deadlines 
• You have experience managing and monitoring the timely delivery of quality client deliverables
• You have an understanding of Venture Capital, Private Equity Fund Administration as well as local fund structures like Unit Trust, Investment Company, Limited Partnerships (VCLP, ESVCLP) , stapled structures
• You have experience implementing accounting data into a general ledger system
• You have experience supporting customers through a software platform and presenting a demo to prospective clients if necessary
• You’re interested in working on projects in a fast paced environment with a supportive team and as an individual
• You have experience leveraging technologies to automate processes and gain efficiencies
• You have experience providing training and guidance to new and existing team members
• You have risk management experience, identifying risk and putting controls in place.
• You have advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Private credit experience preferred

IN A NUTSHELL…

Bellroy ships products around the world, operates across multiple entities and currencies, and manages inventory at a scale that keeps things genuinely interesting. To do that well, our numbers need to be right and our reporting needs to mean something. We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team on an 18-month contract to own exactly that.

This is a hands-on high-ownership role where you'll drive core financial operations, mentor a small team and help us continue building a finance function that's scalable and genuinely useful to the business. Reporting directly to our Financial Controller, you'll work across everything from month-end close and cashflow management to inventory reconciliation and multi-currency transactions. You'll be joining a finance team that's highly capable, genuinely collaborative and who take real pride in the quality of their work.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU…

• Hold a CPA qualification and have 4-5 years of full-function accounting experience (ideally in a product, retail, or consumer goods business)
• Have strong working knowledge of inventory accounting and logistics - you understand how stock movements flow through the books and what it means for reporting
• Are confident working with multiple currencies. You've managed foreign currency bank accounts and payments, and you naturally think across currencies rather than defaulting to AUD
• Have experience with multi-entity structures, intercompany transactions and international consolidations, there aren't new territory for you
• Have led or mentored a small team. You know how to review work, give clear feedback and help people grow in their roles
• Are comfortable making decisions with incomplete or imperfect data you don't need everything to be perfectly clear to take a considered step forward
• Know your way around Oracle NetSuite or a similarly complex ERP system

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK, YOU MIGHT HAVE…

• Kept a close eye on cashflow and managed payment schedules across multiple entities to ensure everything ran smoothly
• Owned the month-end close: preparing journal entries and reviewing reconciliations completed by your team
• Maintained the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Prepared and analysed inventory reconciliations, building a clear picture of stock movements and trends
• Produced financial reports that gave management the clarity they needed to make good decisions
• Worked within NetSuite to manage financial data, transactions, and ad hoc analysis
• Collaborated with the operations team to understand how inventory flows across new locations and explored automation opportunities to streamline reconciliation
• Partnered with the production team to assess the financial impact of changes in inventory ordering and provided practical guidance
• Spent time with your direct reports; reviewing their work, sharing your thinking, and helping them level up

This is a full-time, 18-month contract role based in our Collingwood office, with the potential to extend.
