Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.
We operate at the cutting edge of embodied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Staff Simulation Engineer to be the sole owner of dexterous hand simulation at Apptronik.
This is a high-autonomy, high-impact individual contributor role. You will define how hands are represented in simulation — from contact geometry and physics fidelity all the way through sim-to-real validation — and you will be the authoritative technical voice across Mechanical Design, Controls, and Hardware whenever simulation of the hand is in scope. There is no team beneath you, but your work directly unblocks multiple teams.
Core mandate: make simulation a reliable predictor of physical hand behavior, and own that standard end-to-end.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contact Dynamics & Physics Fidelity: Own the accuracy of contact simulation for high-DOF robotic hands. Model and tune contact parameters — stiffness, damping, friction, restitution — against real hardware measurements. Develop and maintain hand-specific collision geometry (primitive decomposition, mesh optimization) to ensure simulation contact behavior matches physical interaction.
Sim-to-Real Validation: Design and execute systematic sim-to-real validation workflows. Run side-by-side comparisons of grasping stability, fingertip contact forces, and joint behavior between simulation and hardware. Drive iterative parameter calibration using real sensor data — encoders, F/T sensors, tactile arrays — until simulation predictions are quantifiably reliable
Sensor & Actuator Modeling: Build accurate models of the hand's sensing and actuation systems within simulation — including tactile sensor response, actuator dynamics (compliance, backlash), and encoder noise characteristics.
Evaluation Scene Construction: Design and implement evaluation environments and dexterity benchmarks in Isaac Lab / Isaac Sim. Own the physical property modeling — contact materials, object mass/inertia, surface textures — required for high-fidelity task simulation.
Asset Pipeline: Contribute to CAD-to-USD conversion workflows as needed — collision mesh generation, joint limit extraction, kinematic parameter import. This is infrastructure support, not a primary focus.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
Hearing and speech to communicate

About Neuralink:
We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.
Team Description:
The Robot Manufacturing Software team allows Neuralink to build neurosurgical robots at a scale that has never been done before. Every robot that ships was tracked, assembled, calibrated, and verified through the software you'll build. This is the backbone of how we scale from early production to meeting real clinical demand.
We're a small, tightly knit team - and this role is the first dedicated owner of the robot manufacturing software stack. As the company scales, so will the complexity, and you'll be the one designing and building the systems that make all of that possible.
We operate as a tight, high-trust team. You'll have direct ownership and the autonomy to solve hard problems, but also high expectations.
We're moving fast to meet clinical demand and keep up with deployments. 60-hour weeks are not uncommon, and there are stretches where the pace is high. This isn't for everyone.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
As a Software Engineer on the Robot Manufacturing Team, you'll work directly with robot engineers and surgical engineers to understand what they need, then build it. You won't be handed a spec doc from a product manager three layers removed from the problem.
Some days you're heads-down writing code all day. On another day, you might spend a morning pairing with a robot engineer to understand a new calibration process, then spend the afternoon building the tracking system for it. The constant is that you're close to the problem and shipping solutions quickly. Projects you will work on:
Required Qualifications:

The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Recognized on the 2025 Forbes Cloud 100 list, ClickHouse is one of the most innovative and fast-growing private cloud companies. With more than 3,000 customers and ARR that has grown over 250 percent year over year, ClickHouse leads the market in real-time analytics, data warehousing, observability, and AI workloads.
The company’s sustained, accelerating momentum was recently validated by a $400M Series D financing round. Over the past three months, customers including Capital One, Lovable, Decagon, Polymarket, and Airwallex have adopted the platform or expanded existing deployments. These customers join an established base of AI innovators and global brands such as Meta, Cursor, Sony, and Tesla.
We’re on a mission to transform how companies use data. Come be a part of our journey!
Our commercial segment — companies with up to 250 employees — is predominantly developer- and engineer-led. These buyers don't respond to decks and discovery scripts. They respond to someone who speaks their language, understands their architecture, and can help them think through a real problem. That's who we're hiring.
As a Commercial Account Executive at ClickHouse, you'll own the full sales cycle for inbound, product-led, and self-serve accounts in this segment. You'll engage with data engineers, platform teams, and technical founders at the moment they're evaluating ClickHouse for a real use case — and your job is to help them succeed, faster. The best deals in this segment don't feel like sales. They feel like an engineering consultation that ends in a contract.
Our commercial customers include companies like Circle, Flashbots, Blockworks, Cypress.io, Kit, Whop, Coframe, Shaped, and janitorai — developer-first products that chose ClickHouse because they needed something that could handle billions of events without slowing down their users. The best deals in this segment don't feel like sales. They feel like an engineering consultation that ends in a contract.
This is a role for technically strong people who are ready to own a number. Prior closing experience is not required — but technical credibility is non-negotiable.
Most AE roles are execution roles. This one is a craft role. You'll build deep product knowledge, learn how high-growth companies architect for scale, and develop commercial skills in an environment where your technical instincts are your biggest competitive advantage. For the right person, this is a rare opportunity to bridge two worlds — and get paid competitively to do it.
For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.
These salary ranges reflect what we reasonably and in good faith believe to be the minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation may be higher or lower than the amounts listed, and the ranges may be subject to future adjustments.
An individual’s placement within the range will depend on various factors, including (but not limited to) education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and the needs of the business or organization.
If you have any questions or comments about compensation as a candidate, please get in touch with us at paytransparency@clickhouse.com.
Culture - We All Shape It
