The Core Services Site Reliability Engineering (Core Services SRE) team sets the foundations and maintains the principles of reliable engineering across StackAdapt's core service teams.
Core service teams power StackAdapt's software backend, where all data processing occurs. The Core Services SRE team ensures robust and reliable software by building and operating self-healing systems that automatically deploy and manage the scaling of core services software, while championing and evangelizing the principles of reliable software and Site Reliability Engineering across the organization.
StackAdapt is a Remote First company, we are open to candidates located anywhere in the United States or Canada for this position.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Maintain tooling, libraries, and infrastructure leveraged by all core service teams
- Develop and maintain infrastructure services that enable engineers to manage, deploy, and scale systems
- Act as a technical leader, guiding core service teams to design robust and reliable software
- Propose, design, coordinate, and implement cross-cutting initiatives impacting all of core services, both as an individual contributor and as a technical leader
- Propose, design, document, and communicate evolving SRE best practices to keep StackAdapt's core service backend maintainable
- Conduct security reviews for new projects, technologies, and services
What You'll Bring to the Table:
- At least 5 years experience in Infrastructure, Cloud, or Backend engineering
- At least 5 years experience with AWS, or other Cloud provider
- Strong programming, system design, and scripting skills
- Deep understanding of infrastructure as a code and application/network security
- Experience setting up complex AWS environments with Terraform
- Database management experience is a plus
- Experience with our existing technologies is a strong plus: Terraform, Vault, Nomad, Packer, Vagrant, Boundary, Consul, Waypoint, Redis, Aerospike, Go, ScyllaDB, Elasticsearch, RDS, Grafana, Prometheus, Kafka, Envoy, Nginx

What you will do:
- Install and test fire suppression equipment, following designed plans, and communicate needed design changes to fit site requirements within a group or independently under a supervisor.
- Maintain proper Risk Management and Safety procedures on all job sites per VSC policies.
- Responsible for materials delivered to site, for minor fabrication, communication with Field Supervisors and owners.
- Direct, inspect, and verify the work of assigned helpers and apprentices to meet deadlines.

- Ability to review architectural drawings, mechanical, site, structural and complete site surveys, and research essential information as required for structural and mechanical elements.
- Integrate other mechanical systems to ensure successful coordination with the fire suppression system and must be able to recognize potential conflicts with other trades.
- Ability to exercise a high level of autonomy in organizing, planning, and prioritizing multiple projects to meet individual deadlines with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
- Monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to pass various background checks.
- Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle.
- Desirable (but not required):
- NICET Level III or IV, or equivalent experience.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in drafting (AutoCAD).

What you will do:
- Design, coordinate, and submit Fire Protection drawings, hydraulic calculations, seismic brace calculations, and material/equipment schedules. Stock list projects for fabrication and approve fabrication quotes.
- Integrate other mechanical systems to ensure successful coordination with the fire suppression system and must be able to recognize potential conflicts with other trades.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and insurance requirements as well as all fire and building code requirements.
- Provide updates to purchasing as installation schedule or change orders require modifications to meet installation schedule and deadlines and other requirements.
- Communicate with Design Manager and Field Superintendent to review design, installation and testing of devices and systems throughout the project.
- Produce shop list utilizing computer software for fabrication of system piping.
- Assist and fill in for Design Manager and help train less experienced designers as necessary.
- Responsible for the layout of sprinkler system drawings utilizing available information from the contract's defined scope of the project, architectural drawings, job specifications, site surveys, and relevant NFPA, IBC, and local building codes.
- Responsible for all aspects of the design layout, field checking, fabrication listing, material equipment submittals, hydraulic calculations, applicable installation requirements, and close out procedures.
- Maintain proper Risk Management and Safety procedures on all job sites per VSC policies.

What you will do:
- Conducts daily site inspections for methods of handling, storing, installation, and testing of all materials and performance of the site.
- Follows designed plans, communicates needed design change to fit actual site requirements.
- Responsible for materials delivered to site and for minor fabrication on job site, and documenting change orders.
- Leads an installation team and may have responsibility for a large job with multiple crews on location, conducts weekly safety meetings with team(s).
