What are we looking for?
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles and experience in supporting day-to-day financial operations. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial records and contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
What will you do?
Financial Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including the preparation and entry of journal entries, invoices, and receipts into the accounting system.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, and ensure discrepancies are promptly addressed.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring all employee records and payments are accurate and up-to-date.
- Help in the preparation of tax filings, VAT returns, and other statutory financial obligations.
- Support the senior accounting team in budget preparation and monitoring, as well as financial forecasting.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain financial documents, both physical and digital, ensuring easy access and retrieval.
- Assist in the preparation of financial audits, providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely submission of financial data and assist with internal financial inquiries.
- Monitor and manage petty cash transactions and ensure all expenditures are properly documented and authorized.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of financial policies and procedures within the company.
Compliance Support Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures, and assist in implementing new practices as required.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with local and international financial regulations and standards.
- Help in maintaining accurate records for financial compliance and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Prior experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role is desirable.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Pylon) and financial reporting tools.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Greek.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Qualities:
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
