Companies Accora Engineering & Technology Lead

About the role

Accora · Onsite

We’re looking for an Engineering & Technology Lead to build and own Accora’s software capability. This is not a traditional IT leadership role — it’s a hands-on engineering position with accountability for delivering real systems while shaping how we build and run technology across the business.

You’ll lead software delivery end-to-end, while also overseeing core IT operations and a small existing team. The focus is on building well-structured, reliable systems that support our operations and customer experience — not theoretical architecture or large programme management.

Key responsibilities, duties and tasks

  • Own and deliver Accora’s software roadmap, from idea through to deployment and support
  • Design and build full-stack solutions, remaining hands-on in development
  • Establish and manage a robust CI/CD pipeline and development lifecycle
  • Implement testing standards and ensure high-quality, maintainable code
  • Lead and support a small internal team (including NetSuite and IT support roles)
  • Oversee core IT operations to ensure continuity of existing systems
  • Work closely with non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into practical solutions
  • Introduce and manage AI-assisted development approaches where appropriate
  • Ensure appropriate governance, documentation and change control — particularly in a regulated environment
  • Manage external suppliers and technology partners where required

Leadership & management

  • Build a high performing team with shared ownership for results and clear accountabilities for each team member, encouraging high performance and addressing any performance issues
  • Manage short- and longer-term team resource plans to ensure effective allocation against department goals
  • Offer praise for high performance freely, build positive relationships with team members, peers and directors
  • Input into, create and implement Company and department action plans that seek to improve employee engagement and retention
  • Effectively manage your department budget, ensuring you meet agreed budgeted amounts, seek authorisation when required and gain value for spend
  • Where needed and with the relevant director support, manage formal employee processes: disciplinary / grievance / absence / recruitment / annual leave approval / employee review

Requirements

Experience and knowledge

It is essential that the postholder has:

  • Experience in software engineering with clear ownership of delivered systems
  • Strong full-stack capability, with confidence making architectural decisions across front and back end
  • Hands-on experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines end-to-end
  • Experience leading delivery (not just contributing) through to completion with appropriate documentation
  • Experience working with or evaluating AI development tools

It is desirable that the postholder has:

  • Experience across multiple languages (e.g. Python, TypeScript, Go)
  • Exposure to ERP systems or NetSuite integrations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and broader IT system oversight
  • Experience in observability, security and system resilience
  • Supplier or vendor management experience

Skills and abilities

It is essential that the postholder has:

  • Excellent English skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical decisions to non-technical audiences

Other requirements

It is essential that the postholder has:

  • Ability to influence and engage with colleagues, peers, key customers and prospects
  • Full driving licence
  • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom

It is desirable that the postholder has:

  • Comfortable managing a small team with mixed skillsets
