ABOUT THE ROLE 

Harbor Lab is seeking a Payments Operations Team Lead to own the execution and control of client payment operations across our platform. Payments are a critical part of our product, enabling clients to manage operational cash flows across multiple jurisdictions, and must be executed accurately and on time, every time. 

You will lead a team responsible for delivering high-value, time-sensitive cross-border payments, ensuring strong operational discipline, robust controls, and continuous improvement as we scale. This is a hands-on role combining execution, team leadership, and process improvement in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

You will report to the CFO.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 

  • Execute and supervise high-value, time-sensitive cross-border payments, including FX transactions, across multiple jurisdictions 
  • Ensure all payments follow defined processes, control checkpoints, and approval workflows, identifying, investigating, and resolving discrepancies promptly 
  • You are accountable for ensuring zero material errors in payment execution. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payment-related issues, working directly with clients, PSPs, and counterparties to resolve issues and provide clear, timely communication 
  • Handle high-pressure situations with ownership and sound judgment, ensuring issues are managed and communicated effectively 
  • Identify and implement improvements to reduce manual effort, increase straight-through processing (STP), and enhance reliability, partnering with internal teams to improve product, operations, and client experience 
  • Manage and develop a team of payment analysts, driving accountability, ownership, and consistency in execution 

Requirements

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE 

Experience

  • 3–6 years in payments operations, treasury operations, or financial operations  
  • Hands-on experience executing cross-border payments and FX transactions across multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Experience working with multiple banking partners and jurisdictions  
  • Experience in environments where accuracy and process discipline are critical (e.g. banking, fintech, operations-heavy roles)  
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members

  • Comfortable working hands-on in operational processes
