About the Role

The Vineyard Operator plays a crucial role in the day-to-day vineyard operations at our vineyard site in Whitlands, assisting with machinery operation and hands-on viticulture.  Key responsibilities include:

-          Executing a range of tasks including spraying, pruning, vine training, trellis and irrigation repairs, and general vineyard maintenance.

-          Operating machinery and equipment to a high standard and ensuring proper maintenance.

-          Monitoring pests and diseases, assisting with frost protection, bird control, and crop estimation.

-          Undertaking roles during harvest, which may include night and weekend work.

-          Adhering to safety standards, participating in safety activities, and promoting a safe work environment.

Key Criteria

To be considered for this casual position, applicants must:

-          A minimum 1 year of relevant experience in vineyard, agriculture, or horticulture operations is preferred but not essential.

-          Tertiary education or qualifications in agriculture, viticulture, horticulture, or a related field will be highly regarded.

-          Demonstrate a strong understanding of viticultural principles and practices, with the ability to operate machinery and equipment effectively.

-          Exhibit flexibility, strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

-          Hold a valid car license.

-          Possessing a forklift license, chemical handling and first-aid accreditation would be advantageous.
