Companies Ridgeline Staff Software Engineer, Trade Order Management

About the role

Ridgeline · Onsite

Are you an engineer who enjoys building game-changing software and solving complex technical issues? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can develop new capabilities, improve existing systems, and provide hands-on support to keep critical applications running smoothly? Are you excited to help shape the future of trading by contributing across the full lifecycle—from design and development to troubleshooting and technical support? If so, we invite you to join our team.

As a Ridgeline Staff Software Engineer on our Trading Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in building and supporting high-quality applications for our Trade Order Management solution. Leveraging modern technologies and AI-enabled tools, you’ll help shape an industry-defining platform while also ensuring the reliability, performance, and day-to-day support of critical trading workflows. In this role, your passion for engineering, problem solving, and the financial domain will make a meaningful impact on the future of investment management technology.

As part of the Ridgeline Trading team you will help shape our culture, make a big impact on a small team, and learn what it takes to build a successful company. Our team aims to leave a legacy in an industry primed for change.

At Ridgeline, how we work matters as much as what we build. Ridgeliners act like owners, choose growth over comfort, and communicate with transparency. We assume positive intent, bias toward action, and bring solutions—not just problems. We celebrate wins, learn from setbacks, and thrive in a resilient, collaborative, high-performing culture. If the Ridgeline Way excites you, we’d love to meet you.

You must be permitted to work in Ireland, including under EU work authorization, without the need for employer sponsorship.

The impact you will have:

  • Contribute technical expertise and design input to a team where product, design, strategy, and engineering collaborate closely
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design reviews through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Build, enhance, and maintain robust, scalable applications powered by AWS and modern backend technologies
  • Troubleshoot production issues, investigate technical problems, and help deliver timely, thoughtful support for critical trading workflows
  • Partner with internal teams to diagnose root causes, resolve incidents, and improve system reliability and supportability over time
  • Coach, mentor, and support fellow engineers while contributing to the delivery of secure, high-performing enterprise applications
  • Think creatively, take ownership, seek solutions, and communicate clearly throughout both development and support efforts
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment rooted in learning, teaching, transparency, and continuous improvement

What we look for:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including designing, building, and supporting production applications
  • 6+ years experience in Java or Kotlin preferred, or equivalent experience in a modern backend language
  • Experience applying design patterns, OOAD and SOLID principles, and writing automated unit tests
  • Building and supporting cloud-native applications, preferably in AWS
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, analyze root causes, and drive issues through resolution
  • Some knowledge of web front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, along with a willingness to contribute across the stack
  • Ability to balance short-term issue resolution and deliverables with a longer-term architectural perspective
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and support-oriented activities
  • Positive attitude and genuine interest in contributing to a team that works hard, supports one another, and has fun at work

Bonus:

  • Experience engineering in buy-side order management systems
  • Working knowledge of complex financial instruments and their valuations
  • Background in mathematics
  • Experience with FIX and/or SWIFT protocols
