Job Role: Estimator/ Project Coordinator

Compensation range: $2,000 - $2,500 AUD/month

Engagement type: EOR

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: A Melbourne's premium architectural carpentry contractor, specializing in high-end residential construction projects. Their projects typically involve architecturally significant custom homes with construction values ranging from $10M to $30M.

The company partners with some of Australia's leading builders and architects to deliver exceptional carpentry outcomes and has built a strong reputation for quality, professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Estimator & Project Coordinator to support the company's growing operations.

This role is primarily focused on construction estimating, quantity take-offs, tender preparation, and cost projections, while also providing project coordination and contract administration support throughout project delivery.

Working closely with the Director and Project Manager, you will play a key role in helping secure profitable projects, improve estimating systems, and contribute to the development of AI-assisted estimating processes.

Key Responsibilities: 

Estimating & Tendering

  • Review architectural plans, specifications, and project documentation
  • Prepare budget estimates, cost projections, and tender submissions
  • Complete detailed quantity take-offs from construction drawings
  • Measure and quantify carpentry-related items including framing, cladding, battens, screening, timber structures, doors, hardware, and bespoke architectural elements
  • Develop scope breakdowns and pricing documentation for tenders
  • Identify omissions, inconsistencies, and constructability concerns within project documentation
  • Compare builder documentation against pricing assumptions
  • Maintain estimating databases, templates, and cost libraries
  • Assist with tender clarifications and builder queries
  • Produce clear and professional proposal submissions

AI - Assisted Estimating & Process Improvement

  • Assist in developing AI-assisted estimating and quantity take-off workflows
  • Validate quantities extracted through automated systems
  • Help improve estimating templates, databases, and automation processes
  • Work closely with the internal AI team to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across estimating and project administration functions

Project Coordination

  • Assist with variation pricing and supporting documentation
  • Update project cost tracking systems and project records
  • Maintain project registers and documentation
  • Support Project Managers with administrative and coordination tasks
  • Monitor contract deliverables, deadlines, and project milestones
  • Ensure project files remain accurate, complete, and organized

Requirements

  • Experience in construction estimating, contract administration, project coordination, or a similar role
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong spreadsheet and data management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • High level of initiative and problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in high-end residential construction
  • Carpentry or timber construction knowledge
  • Experience using Bluebeam Revu
  • Quantity take-off software experience
  • Exposure to the Australian construction industry
  • Interest in AI, automation, and process improvement
  • Experience developing systems, templates, or estimating workflows
  • Familiarity with construction technology platforms
