About the role
Stanbridge University is seeking clinically experienced and student-focused Full-Time Faculty members to support instruction, curriculum development, student mentorship, assessment activities, and program initiatives within the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program. Faculty may teach in classroom, laboratory, simulation-based, and clinical application environments across areas including orthopedic rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, modalities, acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and rehabilitative interventions.
Full-time faculty play a critical role in advancing student success through evidence-based instruction, clinical expertise, active learning methodologies, and continuous program improvement in alignment with CAPTE accreditation standards and institutional learning outcomes.

Essential Functions
Teaching & Student Success
- Deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in assigned classroom, laboratory, and simulation-based learning environments.
- Teach and demonstrate rehabilitation interventions, therapeutic exercise, mobility training, modalities, patient-care techniques, and evidence-based clinical practices.
- Facilitate student learning through lectures, demonstrations, case studies, simulation activities, and collaborative instructional strategies.
- Assess student competency through practical examinations, assignments, written evaluations, skills assessments, and formative evaluation methods.
- Provide timely feedback, academic guidance, mentorship, and professional development support to students.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, assessment, and instructional records in accordance with university policies.
Curriculum & Program Development
- Participate in curriculum planning, development, revision, and implementation activities.
- Contribute to course assessment processes and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with program leadership to ensure curriculum alignment with CAPTE standards, industry best practices, and institutional outcomes.
- Assist with programmatic initiatives designed to enhance student achievement, retention, and licensure readiness.
Accreditation & Institutional Service
- Participate in accreditation preparation, reporting, assessment activities, and documentation efforts as assigned.
- Attend faculty meetings, program meetings, professional development activities, and institutional events.
- Serve on committees and contribute to departmental and university initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, clinical education partners, and community stakeholders to support program excellence and student success.
Professional Development
- Maintain current knowledge of rehabilitation practices, educational methodologies, professional standards, and emerging healthcare trends.
- Participate in scholarly, service, and professional development activities consistent with university expectations.
- Demonstrate professionalism and leadership consistent with the mission and values of Stanbridge University.
Qualifications
Required
- Current and unrestricted California licensure as either:
- Physical Therapist (PT), or
- Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant clinical experience.
- Master's degree or higher required for PT applicants.
- Bachelor's degree required for PTA applicants.
- Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, supervising, or training learners in academic or clinical environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in assigned instructional content areas.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively teach and engage students in an in-person instructional environment.
Preferred
- Doctoral degree or advanced graduate degree in a related discipline.
- Three (3) or more years of teaching experience in higher education, PTA education, or clinical instruction.
- Experience with curriculum development, student assessment, and course leadership.
- Familiarity with CAPTE accreditation standards and outcomes-based education.
- Experience with simulation-based learning, active-learning strategies, and evidence-based instructional practices.
Campus Assignment Flexibility
Instructional assignments may include:
- Irvine / Orange County Campus
- Los Angeles Campus
Course assignments, teaching schedules, and campus locations may vary based on departmental and institutional needs.
Compensation
Compensation is based on education, experience, specialty expertise, and internal equity considerations.

- Subject to frequent interruptions, noise from talking or instructional equipment, and demanding academic timelines.
Physical Demands
- Regularly sits and stands for extended periods.
- Physical ability to demonstrate and supervise physical therapy interventions, patient transfers, mobility activities, and laboratory instruction.
- Proficient in using electronic keyboards, instructional technology, and office equipment.
- Effective verbal communication in classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning environments.
- Ability to read fine print, operate computers, and understand voices clearly.
- Able to lift, carry, push, and/or move objects weighing 25 pounds or more as required for instructional demonstrations and laboratory activities.
