Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Martin Audio

The Role:
A degree-qualified Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join a world class team and develop advanced professional audio products.
Being a team player is critically important to this role as you will be working within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. As a senior engineer you will demonstrate a high level of competence and will have the ability to own the mechanical design of products and drive development to completion.
Duties:
- Reporting to the Mechanical Design Manager, you will be responsible for the mechanical design of loudspeaker systems. This includes products with safety critical lifting hardware intended for deployment over an audience area.
- You will have a good understanding of engineering principles and have experience of structural load analysis. You will be comfortable with hand calculation and FEA tools to validate and optimise design work.
- You will understand geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis and how to apply these methods to ensure products fit together as required. This relates to the connection and suspension loudspeaker systems.
- Our products utilise a range of materials and processes it is likely you will be asked to design for: welded fabrication, woodworking (usually CNC), sheet metal design, extrusions, pressed metal parts, diecast and injection moulding.
- To develop the team, you may be expected to provide mentoring to other team members and assist with drawing checking and validation.
- You may be required to attend concerts or installations, to gain experience of the use cases of our products.
- At times you will be required to visit suppliers or contract manufacturers.
Skills and Experience Required:
- You will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or associated discipline, along with previous experience in a mechanical design or product development position.
- An ability to problem solve and present solutions based on sound engineering principals.
- Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD package such as Solidworks, Creo Parametric, Fusion 360 or similar, with PTC Creo Parametric (formally Pro/Engineer Wildfire) being preferred.
- The ability to produce Engineering drawings for parts and assemblies, for manufacture and quality control, these will be fully detailed with the required to inspection dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience of using a PLM system with regards to document control and change management.
- Experience of geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis and how to apply these methods to ensure products fit together as required.
- The ability to use hand calculation and FEA tools to analyse structural components to confirm compliance and optimise designs.
Working Hours: 8:45-17:30 Monday to Thursday, 8:45-16:00 Friday.
