Companies Sunreef Yachts Mechanical Engineer - Sheet Metal & Hydraulic Kinematic Systems

About the role

Sunreef Yachts

Overview

Sunreef Yachts is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This role focuses on the design and development of sheet metal structures and hydraulic kinematic systems integrated within luxury yacht platforms.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design fundamentals with hands-on understanding of manufacturability, hydraulic performance, and motion systems. You will contribute to the development of innovative, reliable, and production-ready mechanical solutions aligned with Sunreef’s premium standards.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Development

  • Design and develop sheet metal components and weldment assemblies, including structural supports, frames, brackets, enclosures, and marine-specific mechanisms.
  • Prepare detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings with full specifications (tolerances, bend allowances, weld symbols, GD&T where applicable).
  • Select appropriate materials, coatings, and surface treatments suitable for marine environments.

Hydraulic & Kinematic Systems

  • Design, analyze, and optimize hydraulic systems including cylinders, pumps, valves, manifolds, and hose routing.
  • Develop and validate kinematic mechanisms involving linear and rotary motion systems, articulated linkages, and synchronized movement assemblies.
  • Perform motion, load, and strength calculations to ensure performance, safety, and durability.

Engineering Validation & Optimization

  • Conduct mechanical calculations and FEA analysis to validate structural integrity and functionality.
  • Review and improve existing systems for reliability, performance, weight optimization, and cost efficiency.
  • Support prototype assembly, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with production teams, suppliers, and installation teams to ensure manufacturability and seamless integration.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and project technical specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering reports, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant mechanical design experience (marine experience is an advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and kinematic mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks required; FEA and AutoCAD preferred).
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including laser cutting, bending, welding, and machining.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on innovative luxury yacht projects with international exposure.
  • Dynamic, multicultural working environment within a rapidly growing global brand.
  • Competitive salary package aligned with experience.
  • Career development opportunities within Sunreef Yachts’ international operations.
  • Exposure to advanced marine technologies and custom engineering solutions.
  • Basic Health Insurance
  • Annual leave + Sick leave
