As a Quality Technician II, you’ll join a dynamic team committed to strengthening the world’s energy systems to make them more resilient, efficient, and reliable.

 

Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, Quality Technician II performs advanced quality inspections and testing on raw materials, components, and finished goods, and takes the lead in identifying and documenting nonconforming material. This role supports quality investigations, root cause analysis, and may assist in training entry-level technicians. Ensures proper documentation and contributes to continuous improvement activities. Works under moderate supervision with increased autonomy. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Testing and Measurement 

  • Conducts measurements and inspections on incoming raw materials and components to ensure they meet specified quality standards 
  • Maintains batch house chemical inventory and ensures only qualified and verified materials are available for use in production 
  • Records and reports any non-conformities in critical materials received 
  • Performs verifications as necessary for each test, measurement, and monitoring device or equipment used 
  • Receives and tracks production coupons and samples into the test laboratory 
  • Performs product quality release tests and report any failed results 
  • Adheres to all safety and health regulations as required 

 

Testing Support for Engineering and R&D 

  • Supports Engineering teams by performing laboratory tests and measurements on supplied samples and delivering on-time results 
  • Uses eQMS and LIMS electronic systems to report individual test results 
  • Prepares testing and measuring data packages and reports as requested 

 

Final Inspection and Final Quality Package Assembly 

  • Conducts final inspections on products before release to ensure they meet the required quality standards 

Assembles the final product package, including all necessary documentation, to accompany finished goods 

 

Audits, Verifications, and Inspections  

  • Performs laboratory and shop-floor scoped verification activities to ensure procedures and QMS processes are being followed 
  • Participates in internal audits of testing activities and of our QMS 
  • Regularly audits all measurement tools and gauges to ensure they are properly calibrated and verified for use 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • 3 years of experience in lab technician, quality control, analyst, or engineering roles in a manufacturer 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, engineering, or related discipline 
  • Experience performing electronic and mechanical testing of electronic materials, wires, or metals 
  • Experience performing analytical chemistry tests, including titrations, ICP, GC, DSC, and TGA  
  • Experience with calibration and/or verification of test and measuring equipment 

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Intermediate understanding of materials testing and evaluation 
  • Basic understanding of quality systems like ISO 9001 
  • Basic ability to read and interpret international engineering and testing standards, engineering drawings, and other technical documentation 
  • Ability to use hand gages to perform dimensional measurements 
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite. 

 

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, reaching with arms, using hands, talking, and hearing. Some sitting, climbing, stooping, crawling, or crouching will be needed. Frequent lifting/carrying/moving of up to 10 pounds will be needed and, in some instances, lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds will be required, manually transport a load up to 75 lbs., applying up to 100-foot pounds of torque. The ability to adjust vision focus from near to far and peripheral is needed as well as the ability to distinguish the difference in colors.
