About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Mobile Engineer to join our Compliance & KYC engineering team, where you will play a key role in building secure, regulation-compliant, and localised onboarding solutions for users around the world. This is not a typical feature-building role — you will have end-to-end technical ownership for one or more key markets, working closely with regional business leaders, compliance experts, and external KYC vendors.
We are open to two profiles at this level. The first is an engineer who brings solid mobile fundamentals and genuine curiosity about the business and regulatory context behind the work — someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and is energised by the real-world impact of what they build. The second is a technically strong Mobile engineer who can independently solve hard problems, drive solutions end-to-end, and communicate with structure and precision. Both profiles must be self-driven, hungry to grow, and motivated by more than just writing code.
What You'll Be Doing
- Take full technical ownership of specific regional markets, leading mobile KYC and compliance implementation from requirements to release.
- Make independent engineering decisions based on business context, regulatory needs, and technical constraints — balancing speed, maintainability, and compliance.
- Build and maintain critical mobile onboarding features such as document verification, facial recognition, and liveness detection, ensuring seamless and secure user experiences across iOS and Android.
- Collaborate closely with regional market leaders, compliance and legal teams, and product managers to translate local regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
- Integrate and optimise third-party KYC SDKs and services while managing performance, security, and UX trade-offs.
- Ensure mobile data flows and user permissions are fully compliant with local and international privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, PDPA, CCPA).
- Influence mobile architecture decisions with a focus on modularity, reusability, and maintainability — particularly for region-specific features.
- Apply AI tools and coding assistants to accelerate development, improve code quality, and cross-translate solutions across iOS and Android platforms.
- Identify and resolve edge cases, production issues, and technical risks related to compliance flows.
- Mentor teammates and contribute to a culture of ownership, autonomy, and high engineering standards.
What We Look For In You
- 5+ years of native iOS or Android development experience, preferably with exposure to secure or compliance-sensitive features.
- Deep expertise in either iOS or Android, with confidence contributing across both platforms — leveraging AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex to bridge stacks where needed.
- Proven ability to independently own and drive technical solutions end-to-end, particularly for region-specific or regulatory requirements.
- Strong hands-on experience integrating camera, biometric, OCR, or facial recognition SDKs into production mobile apps.
- Genuine interest in the business and regulatory context of your work — you want to understand why, not just what to build.
- Self-driven and hungry: you bring ambition to the role, communicate with clarity and structure, and are motivated by impact rather than just task completion.
- Actively uses AI tools as a core part of your engineering workflow — building repeatable workflows, curating domain knowledge, and ensuring tools like Claude Code or Codex deliver reliably on production work.
- Strong communication and documentation skills — able to clearly articulate trade-offs, constraints, and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to balance speed, quality, and compliance in a fast-paced, high-trust environment.
Nice-To-Haves
- Android-native background with a strong track record of shipping production-quality systems (particularly relevant for P6-2 candidates).
- Familiarity with global compliance frameworks and KYC solution providers such as Jumio, Onfido, Sumsub, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience working across both iOS and Android in a production environment.
- Experience collaborating with international and cross-functional stakeholders, with the ability to influence product and compliance decisions from a technical perspective.
- Background in fintech, crypto, or regulated consumer financial products.
