About the role
IBMC is assisting a prominent international mining and commodity group headquartered in Singapore. With a robust portfolio spanning mineral exploration, mining investment, mineral trading, and project development, the group manages diverse operations across Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Pacific region. We are currently advancing an early-stage, greenfield copper-gold exploration project in the Solomon Islands and are seeking a highly capable Technical Leader to join our regional team.
We are seeking a practical, hands-on, and field-oriented Senior Exploration Geologist to lead our early-stage exploration program in the Solomon Islands. This is not a corporate, office-bound technical desk job. This is a raw, dynamic field-leadership role where you will participate in building a copper-gold exploration program from the ground up. You will split your time between driving active field geology across tropical terrains and executing strategic interpretation at our capital city office. The main focus is to independently manage and execute exploration programmes to identify high-potential mineral sources.
Working Arrangement & FIFO Roster
• Location: Based full-time in the Solomon Islands.
• Rotation Roster: Approximately 4 to 5 months onsite in the country, followed by home leave back to your country of origin.
• Work Balance: Work includes both raw field exploration (mapping, sampling) and office-based data interpretation/planning in the capital city. You are not expected to remain continuously in remote field camps throughout the rotation.
Key Responsibilities
• Exploration Strategy & Planning: Develop exploration strategies, annual work plans, prioritize exploration targets, and independent recommend follow-up programs.
• Geological Field Operations: Lead geological mapping, prospecting, soil/rock/stream sediment sampling, drill target generation, core logging, and structural interpretation.
• Contractor & Lab Supervision: Coordinate and supervise drilling contractors, geophysical survey teams, and assay laboratories while enforcing strict QA/QC and safety standards.
• Team Leadership: Organize daily field activities, manage local field assistants, and provide practical technical guidance on-site.
• Technical Reporting: Prepare clear weekly exploration updates, core summaries, and data-driven recommendations for the General Manager entirely in English.
Requirements
• Nationality Preferred: Open to Indonesian citizens.
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of metallic mineral exploration experience (candidates with 7–15 years of experience are highly preferred).
• Commodity Expertise: Strong background in Copper-Gold exploration, specifically targeting Porphyry Copper and Epithermal Gold systems. Experience in Greenfield/early-stage setups is highly valued.
• Technical Software: Proficient with mining software such as ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine,or ioGAS.
• Language Skills: Confident and effective communication in English (both written and spoken for technical report generation).
• Physical Fitness: Highly fit and adaptable to working in tropical, remote, and rugged field environments.
• Note: Candidates whose backgrounds are strictly limited to Mine Production, Resource Modelling, or Desktop Studies are less suitable for this practical field role.
Benefits
• Competitive Target Compensation: USD 3,500 – USD 4,200 per month (Preferred hiring range, highly negotiable up to USD 4,500 based on depth of copper-gold field expertise).
• Full Logistics Support: The company provides full Work Visa processing, International Flights, and Home Leave transport.
• Onsite Living Support: Free Accommodation and Meals provided by the company during rotations.
• Comprehensive Protection: Full Medical Insurance coverage where applicable.
