Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (Orthopedic Spine Surgery) – West Phoenix, AZ

Location: West Phoenix, AZ

Hours & Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Work Environment: Inpatient hospital-based orthopedic spine practice with a collaborative team environment consisting of fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeons and advanced practice providers.

Salary Rate: $140,000 - $180,000 annually

Bonus Offered: Performance bonus (On-target earnings up to $225,000 annually)

Job Summary:

The Orthopedic Spine Surgery Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant provides comprehensive medical care under the supervision and collaboration of orthopedic spine surgeons. This provider maintains an independent clinic schedule, assists with surgical procedures, performs inpatient rounding, evaluates and manages patients throughout the continuum of care, and works closely with physicians and fellow advanced practice providers to ensure outstanding patient outcomes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, histories, and physical examinations
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic orthopedic spine conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic testing
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify care plans as appropriate
  • Prescribe medications and administer approved treatments within scope of practice
  • Perform wound care, suture removal, and other approved clinical procedures
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and postoperative recovery
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
  • Triage patient calls and evaluate clinical concerns
  • Participate in hospital rounding and coordinate continuity of care
  • First assist orthopedic spine surgeons during surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
  • Respond appropriately to urgent and emergent patient situations
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals

Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current Arizona NP or PA license, or ability to obtain prior to employment
  • National certification as an NP or PA (NCCPA, AANP, or ANCC)
  • Current DEA registration or ability to obtain
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • ACLS certification required
  • Minimum one (1) year of orthopedic surgery, orthopedic spine, or neurosurgery experience required
  • Experience assisting in the operating room preferred
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic spine evaluation and treatment
  • Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Strong patient education and communication abilities
  • Ability to independently manage clinic patients within scope of practice
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based patient care

Requirements

  • PA Program Completed in USA (Not Puerto Rico)
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Active NCCPA certification or eligibility to obtain certification
  • Current Arizona Physician Assistant licensure or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment
  • Current CPR certification
