This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX.
Position Summary
AST SpaceMobile is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting maintenance operations during assigned shifts within AST SpaceMobile's satellite manufacturing facilities. This position provides direct supervision of maintenance technicians while ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, production support equipment, and building infrastructure.
The supervisor serves as the primary maintenance leader during the shift and is responsible for coordinating preventive maintenance activities, responding to equipment failures, troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently to minimize downtime.
The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, industrial maintenance experience, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment.
Pay: up to $42 an hour based on experience, with overtime opportunities.
Shift: 3rd Shift (Weekend Days) – Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (3x12 Schedule)+
What you’ll do:
Leadership & Team Supervision
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Industrial Maintenance Technicians during assigned shifts.
- Assign daily maintenance activities and prioritize work orders based on production requirements.
- Monitor technician performance and provide coaching and technical guidance.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations of maintenance personnel.
- Ensure shift turnover communication is completed accurately between maintenance teams.
Maintenance Operations
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize production downtime.
- Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns and emergency repairs.
- Monitor work order completion and maintenance documentation.
- Assist technicians in diagnosing and resolving complex equipment failures.
- Support installation, relocation, and commissioning of production equipment.
Mechanical & Electrical Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
- Diagnose failures involving motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, sensors, relays, VFDs, and control systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment including multimeters, meters, and testing instruments.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Manufacturing Equipment Support
- Support production operations by maximizing equipment reliability and uptime.
- Coordinate maintenance support for satellite production equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
- Partner with production leadership to address maintenance concerns impacting throughput.
Facility Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance of facility systems including:
- HVAC
- Compressed air systems
- Electrical distribution systems
- Plumbing systems
- Building infrastructure
- Lighting systems
- Safety systems
- Ensure facility maintenance activities meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and company safety procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections and participate in incident investigations.
- Ensure maintenance personnel utilize proper PPE and safe work practices.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
- Lead safety discussions and toolbox talks.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work order documentation.
- Utilize CMMS systems to track maintenance activities and equipment history.
- Prepare shift reports and communicate equipment status to management.
- Track maintenance KPIs including downtime, PM completion rates, and equipment reliability.
What You Bring:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or authorized to work in the United States.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, aerospace, production, refinery, semiconductor, or related environments.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or lead technician experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience supporting production equipment and manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Experience using maintenance management software (CMMS).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Technical Certification in:
- Industrial Maintenance
- Electrical Technology
- Mechanical Technology
- Mechatronics
- Automation Technology
- Military maintenance experience.
- Experience supervising maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
- PLC troubleshooting experience.
- VFD troubleshooting experience.
- HVAC certification.
- Electrical certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks
- Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties
- Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing
- Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling
- Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 50 pounds as required
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment

- Ability to type up to 8-12 hours per day
- Ability to Reading, identifying colors of labels or signage
- Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber)
