About the role

We are looking for a Software Safety Engineer with hands-on experience in vehicle-level safety analysis and safety case development. The role focuses on enabling safe integration of vehicle functions through practical safety engineering. You will be responsible for both system and software safety development across our Vehicle OS platform — working with safety requirements, analyses, and verification activities that span the full V-cycle. You will collaborate closely with software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to ensure safety is correctly specified, implemented, and verified end-to-end. This is a generalist safety engineering role that values breadth across the safety lifecycle, practical experience delivering safety work products, and the ability to engage with software teams on safety requirements and implementation.

At Applied Intuition, you will:

  • Develop and own vehicle-level safety cases for driving functions and platform integration

  • Translate safety analysis into clear, implementable safety requirements and constraints

  • Apply ISO 26262 Part 3 (Concept Phase), Part 4 (System Development), and Part 9 (analysis & decomposition)

  • Work across vehicle features (braking, steering, ADAS, body functions) to identify risks and define mitigations

  • Hands-on development of safety artifacts aligned to road-driving features (e.g., hazard analysis, FMEA, safety case structures)

  • Collaborate with HW, SW, and integration teams to ensure safety is correctly implemented end-to-end

  • System level working knowledge and good exposure to HW FMEA’s for vehicle safety case measures.

  • Support vehicle bring-up and validation with safety checks aligned to system behavior

  • Create and maintain safety artifacts (hazard analysis, FMEA, safety case, traceability)

  • Experience with or willingness to support mining / off-road vehicle safety programs

  • Familiarity with ISO 19014 or ISO 13849

  • Exposure to system-level hazard analysis and safety requirements for heavy machinery

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering , Computer Engineering or Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience in functional safety experience with a primary focus on software level safety development and some exposure to systems level safety per ISO 26262 Part 6

  • Hands-on experience in vehicle-level safety case development and producing safety work products across the V-cycle

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 and road vehicle features enablement (on-road and/or off-road)

  • Experience collaborating across software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to implement safety requirements end-to-end

  • Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools (JAMA, DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent)

Nice to have:

  • Previously worked on OS, device drivers and platform level safety

  • Experience working in OEM / Tier-1 / vehicle programs preferred

  • Experience with HARA/HAZOP, System FMEA, and safety case derivation

  • Good understanding of vehicle systems (ADAS, braking, steering, control systems)

  • Ability to bridge system, hardware, and software interactions
