Position Summary
The QA/QC Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the company's Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) program across all construction projects. This leadership role ensures that all work is performed in accordance with contract documents, company standards, client expectations, and applicable codes and regulations.
The QA/QC Director partners closely with Operations, Project Management, Safety, Preconstruction, and Field Leadership to establish a culture of quality, minimize rework, improve project performance, and drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
Establish and maintain company-wide QA/QC standards, procedures, and best practices.
Create and oversee project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
Provide leadership, mentoring, and oversight to project QA/QC Managers and Coordinators.
Conduct routine audits of active construction projects to verify compliance with quality standards.
Ensure compliance with owner specifications, contract requirements, applicable building codes, and industry standards.
Review project documentation, inspection reports, testing results, and turnover packages for completeness and accuracy.
Lead investigations into quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Operations to proactively identify and resolve quality concerns.
Monitor and track non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch list items, and corrective actions through completion.
Develop quality metrics and reporting dashboards to measure project performance and identify trends.
Participate in project planning meetings to establish quality expectations and project execution strategies.
Support commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities.
Assist with client quality meetings, owner inspections, and third-party audits.
Evaluate lessons learned from completed projects and incorporate improvements into future work.
Ensure all QA/QC documentation is maintained in accordance with company standards.
Stay current on industry best practices, evolving codes, and quality management methodologies.
Build and promote a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.
Has the authority to stop work when quality standards, contract requirements, or company procedures are not being met.
Ability to travel to project sies up to 50% of the time.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
10+ years of commercial or industrial construction experience.
Minimum of 5 years in a QA/QC leadership or management role.
Experience overseeing quality programs on large-scale mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, mission critical, or commercial construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, commissioning, and quality management processes.
Working knowledge of applicable building codes, OSHA requirements, and industry standards.
Experience developing Quality Control Plans and quality documentation.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to build relationships across field operations, project management, and executive leadership.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software such as Bluebeam.
