About the role
Psychiatrist — Part-Time
Remote · Active Georgia Medical License Required
We're looking for a psychiatrist who wants to practice great psychiatric care — with kids, families, and young adults — without the demands of a full-time schedule.
Backpack Healthcare provides mental health care for children, teens, and young adults — all online, covered by most insurance. We're clinician-led and minority-owned, and our psychiatrists are a core part of an integrated care team, not a separate service line. You'll work alongside PMHNPs, therapists, and care coordinators who are all focused on the same patients.
If you want meaningful part-time psychiatric work with real clinical collaboration and real flexibility — this is worth your time.
What this role looks like
You'll carry a part-time caseload of 15–22 hours per week, providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment via telehealth. Afternoon and evening availability is required. Weekend hours are available based on patient demand.
Day-to-day you'll:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments across the lifespan
- Diagnose and manage ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and more
- Develop individualized treatment plans including medication management and therapy recommendations
- Collaborate with therapists, PMHNPs, primary care providers, schools, and families
- Provide crisis intervention and ongoing support as needed
- Participate in team meetings and clinical consultations
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with HIPAA and Georgia regulations
- Stay current on developments in psychiatric care and evidence-based treatment
What we offer
- Competitive fee-for-service hourly compensation
- Malpractice insurance coverage provided
- CME reimbursement
- Flexible scheduling with genuine work-life balance
- A collaborative clinical environment where your input shapes care
What we're looking for
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completed psychiatry residency
- Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry
- Active Georgia medical license and DEA license
- Strong communication skills and genuine comfort working with diverse patient populations
- Bilingual English/Spanish — strongly encouraged
- Experience in outpatient, community mental health, or integrated care settings preferred
- Familiarity with telepsychiatry platforms and EHR systems preferred
Who we are
We've served 12,000+ kids and families since 2020. 78% of families report their child is doing better after three months. We built Backpack because fragmented, inaccessible care wasn't working — for families or for the clinicians trying to help them.
When clinicians thrive, kids thrive. That's not a tagline. It's how we build.
Backpack Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity in age, background, identity, and experience — and we mean it.
