About the role
About VSCO
For years, we've helped photographers create their work. Now we're building what comes next.
VSCO exists for photographers. Not as a side feature, not as an afterthought, but as the whole point. We build the connected system photographers rely on, and we've spent over a decade earning the trust of a global creative community that takes the craft seriously.
Photography is at an inflection point. AI is reshaping what's possible for creative work, and that's where our mission shines. VSCO is building the full photographer's workflow: from creating and editing your work, to delivering it to clients, to running your business. All of it built thoughtfully, with photographers leading the way. We believe the future of photography tools creates more space for creativity, handling the busy work so photographers can focus on the craft.
If you care about craft, community, and what technology can unlock for creative people, this is the work. We're a mission-driven and focused company where your work ships quickly, is meaningful, and reaches tens of millions of people worldwide. You'll have a real say in what we build and how we build it. We hire people who don't wait to be asked, naturally connect the dots, care about the quality of what they ship, and believe the best outcomes come from building together.
About The Role
We’re hiring an Accounting Manager who owns the close and builds the system behind it.
This is a high-ownership, systems-focused role for someone who:
- Runs a clean, predictable close
- Sees inefficiencies and eliminates them
- Builds scalable processes that reduce manual work
- Operates independently and improves everything they touch
You won’t just maintain accounting operations—you’ll modernize them.
We are in the middle of an ERP buildout (Campfire) and actively working toward a faster, more automated close (goal: sub-3 day, long-term 1-day close). This role will be central to that transformation.
This is a strong fit for someone who wants to:
- Move beyond “doing the close” → designing the close
- Own systems, not just outputs
- Be a force multiplier in a lean environment
This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office — currently three days per week, with the expectation that in-office time may evolve.
The Day to Day

- Maintain balance sheet integrity across all accounts

- Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact close
Systems & Process Design
- Play a key role in ERP implementation and ongoing optimization (Campfire)
- Build scalable workflows and documentation

Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as a go-to accounting partner across the business
- Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Ops on accounting and systems questions
- Support revenue recognition processes and automation efforts
- Oversee AP operations and vendor management — review and approval, with transactional execution handled by support staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Demonstrated ownership of or significant responsibility for month-end close
- Experience with or exposure to ERP implementations
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Systems-minded—you think in workflows, not tasks
- Comfortable in a lean, high-autonomy environment
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and bias toward fixing root causes

- Big 4 or public accounting background
