About the role
As part of a cable vessel newbuilding programme for a leading international shipowner, we are looking for two Construction Supervisors to join the Owner’s team at a shipyard in Vietnam.
Mission
On site at the shipyard, you will join the Owner’s supervision team and be closely involved in the installation, testing, and commissioning of cable ship systems.
Your experience as a cable vessel mariner will be key to ensuring that all installed systems meet real operational requirements for subsea cable laying, repair, and maintenance campaigns.
In this role, you will support the full shipyard construction process, with a strong focus on equipment installation, system integration, testing, and vessel delivery.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Monitoring the installation of cable handling and laying systems;
- Cable equipment such as winches, cable engines, capstans, and cable tanks;
- Cable guiding, tensioning, and control systems used during operations;
- Subsea-related equipment such as ROV systems and burial tools;
- Functional and integration testing of installed systems;
- Shipyard inspections and quality control activities;
- Harbour Acceptance Tests and Sea Trials;
- Supporting commissioning activities through to vessel delivery.
Requirements
We are ideally seeking experienced cable ship seafarers or maritime professionals with strong seagoing experience on cable vessels.
A solid operational background in subsea telecom cable laying, repair, or maintenance is essential.
Exposure to shipyard environments, newbuilding projects, installation supervision, or commissioning activities is essential, as the role takes place directly within a vessel construction programme.
Hands-on knowledge of cable vessel operational systems and equipment, including cable handling and laying systems, winches, cable engines, capstans, cable tanks, ROV systems, and burial tools, is essential.
Hands-on experience with functional testing, integration testing, Harbour Acceptance Tests, and Sea Trials is essential.
Professional proficiency in English is essential.
Experience supporting commissioning activities through to vessel delivery would be a strong advantage.
Ideally, you will bring 10+ years of seagoing experience on cable vessels.
