About the role

Oligo Space

Oligo is building a manufacturing-in-the-loop foundation model to automate spacecraft design and production worldwide. Our approach allows customers to focus entirely on their own technology and mission objectives, while we handle everything, from design and manufacturing to launch and operations. Leveraging cutting edge AI-driven generative design and automated manufacturing, our ex-MIT, Harvard, and NASA JPL team work to create the most advanced payload-specific spacecraft at scale in weeks over months.

With world‑class advisors on our board, and fresh funding from top investors like Lux Capital, we’re always on the lookout for exceptional builders, fast learners, and ambitious engineers. Whether your passion lies in spacecraft systems, avionics, ML/AI, or advanced manufacturing, you’ll be collaborating across disciplines on real missions that fly, perform in orbit, and scale internationally.

We pair world-class AI/ML talent with top-tier satellite engineers under one roof to reimagine how space systems are built, starting from first principles. No bureaucracy. No legacy thinking.

If you think you’re a fit, we are extremely excited to meet you.

What You'll Do

As a Spacecraft Engineering Intern, you’ll get hands-on experience working with our team on the design, integration, and testing of spacecraft systems. You’ll collaborate with both mechanical and electrical engineers to help bridge subsystems and contribute to the overall mission. During your internship, you may:

  • Support and in some cases lead the design of spacecraft mechanical and electrical subsystems (structures, harnessing, avionics integration, and thermal management).

  • Assist in developing interface diagrams, cable routing layouts, and system documentation.

  • Help select and organize hardware components such as connectors, fasteners, and circuit boards.

  • Participate in assembly, integration, and testing activities, including environmental test campaigns.

  • Work alongside engineers from multiple disciplines (GNC, power, software, mission design) to ensure spacecraft components fit together seamlessly.

  • Contribute to design reviews by preparing documentation and presentations for the team.

  • Learn how procurement and supplier coordination affect hardware delivery timelines.

What You'll Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with engineering fundamentals in either mechanical design (CAD, tolerances, materials) or electrical design (schematics, harnessing, power systems).

  • Basic experience with engineering tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Altium, or similar).

  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

  • Enthusiasm for space systems and willingness to learn across disciplines.

  • Willingness to help out with manual hand-on activities

  • Proven experience in documentation and structured communication amongst multi-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to carry 40lbs sometimes.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience from coursework, labs, or projects involving CAD modeling, wiring, or circuit design.

  • Exposure to environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC) through classes or internships.

  • Familiarity with system engineering tools or project management platforms (e.g., Jira).

  • Hands-on experience with hardware builds, lab work, or student competition teams (CubeSats, rocketry, robotics).

  • Interest in spacecraft operations, launch integration, or mission design.

Pay Range

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 / per year.

  • This role is on-site in Hawthorne, CA
