Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced Band 7 Pharmacy Technician within Medicines Procurement to join the pharmacy team in Kent. This is a senior role offering the opportunity to lead medicines procurement services, ensuring efficient supply, cost‑effective purchasing, and continuity of care across the Trust.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing medicines shortages, supporting clinical teams, and leading procurement strategies to deliver best value and optimal patient outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the medicines procurement team to ensure effective sourcing and supply of medicines.
  • Manage medicines shortages and identify suitable alternatives in collaboration with clinical teams.
  • Act as the key link between procurement and ward-based clinical teams.
  • Lead on contract management and procurement strategy to maximise NHS resources.
  • Support the procurement of pre‑made batch chemotherapy to meet cancer service needs.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Significant NHS hospital experience, including procurement and supply chain.
  • Experience working at Band 7 level or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medicines procurement processes and financial management within the NHS.
