About the job

Goods & Services is looking for a Senior BackEnd Engineer with deep expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, distributed systems, and modern backend architecture. This role requires strong experience designing scalable microservices, working with strict TypeScript standards, and building reliable event-driven systems in a highly structured engineering environment.

The ideal candidate understands domain ownership, asynchronous workflows, and data consistency patterns, and is comfortable working in a system where architectural principles are enforced rather than treated as guidelines.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js 22 and TypeScript 5.5.
  • Build and manage database schemas, migrations, and data access layers using Prisma ORM.
  • Design and maintain domain-driven microservices with clear service boundaries and ownership.
  • Develop and support REST APIs for internal service-to-service communication.
  • Implement and maintain asynchronous processing workflows and event-driven architectures.
  • Apply CQRS principles to separate transactional and reporting workloads.
  • Implement reliable data consistency patterns, including the Transactional Outbox Pattern.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on architecture, code quality, and system scalability initiatives.

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
  • Solid experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with TypeScript Strict Mode.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture and domain-driven design principles.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Solid experience with Prisma ORM, including schema design and database migrations.
  • Experience building and supporting asynchronous processing workflows.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience working with relational databases and multi-database environments.
  • AI- Assisted Development experience required: Candidates must be fluent in VS Code and GitHub Copilot beyond basic autocomplete. Required skills include creating Copilot instruction files to provide repository context, building reusable prompt libraries for backend workflows, and leveraging Copilot Agent workflows to generate high-quality TypeScript, Prisma migrations, and service handlers.
