Who the Client Is:

The client is a Brisbane-based civil engineering consultancy delivering land development and infrastructure projects across Queensland. Their services include residential subdivisions, stormwater management, earthworks, road design, sewer and water reticulation, flood studies, and development approvals. They work closely with developers, surveyors, town planners, architects, and contractors to deliver practical engineering solutions from concept design through to construction.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Civil 3D Designer / Civil Engineering Drafter to support the delivery of Australian land development and infrastructure projects. This role will focus on preparing detailed civil engineering drawings, assisting with design development, and producing high-quality documentation across a variety of projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong Autodesk Civil 3D experience, excellent attention to detail, and hands-on exposure to land development projects. You will work closely with experienced engineers while contributing to projects from concept design through to construction documentation. This is a long-term opportunity for someone looking to become a valued member of a growing engineering consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil engineering drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for land development and infrastructure projects in Australia
  • Assist with the design and drafting of residential subdivisions, stormwater drainage systems, roadworks, earthworks, and sewer and water reticulation networks
  • Develop surfaces, grading models, pipe networks, long sections, cross sections, and detailed engineering plans
  • Produce concept plans, detailed design drawings, development approval (DA) drawings, operational works (OPW) drawings, and as-constructed documentation
  • Revise and update drawings based on engineering mark-ups and project requirements
  • Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, planners, architects, and other consultants
  • Maintain organised project files and drafting standards
  • Support quality control procedures and ensure documentation accuracy
  • Assist with quantity calculations, project documentation, and technical deliverables
  • Contribute to project delivery from concept design through to construction documentation

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 4-7+ years of experience in civil drafting, civil design, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on civil engineering or land development projects in Australia
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D (essential)
  • Experience using AutoCAD for civil engineering drafting and documentation
  • Experience with residential subdivisions, stormwater management, earthworks, road design, sewer, and water infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of civil engineering drawings, design standards, and drafting best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience producing drawings and documentation to Australian Standards, with an understanding of local codes, specifications, and project delivery requirements
  • Previous experience supporting clients in AU/NZ/US/UK/CA or similar markets highly regarded

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

  • Fully remote role with partial overlap with Australian business hours (AEST)
  • Full-time engagement (40 hours per week)
  • Work closely with an experienced engineering team on a range of Australian land development projects
  • Communication primarily via Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp, and Outlook
  • Expected to work independently following onboarding and training
