ABOUT THIS ROLE
BerlinRosen is looking for a Senior Account Executive to join our Impact Team and help drive strategy for account teams fighting for and advancing justice across public affairs, politics and international relations. This is an opportunity for a motivated communications professional to shape mission-driven campaigns that break through, influence the conversation and create meaningful impact. The Senior Account Executive will bring experience in earned media and/or digital outreach, with the ability to pitch, secure and book media placements for NGO and nonprofit clients. This person will be a proactive team player willing to work across multiple accounts and impact areas to support smart strategy and help clients achieve their goals. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and news-savvy communicator with a positive attitude, a collaborative spirit and the drive to deliver winning campaigns.
Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. or Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The Impact team is in-office at least 3 days per week.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
As a Senior Account Executive on our Impact team, you will…
- Drive the day-to-day on projects and collaborate with colleagues to advance the communications strategy for multiple high-profile client accounts
- Implement integrated campaigns that leverage public affairs, media and digital tactics to reach key audiences and achieve client goals
- Engage and maintain strong relationships with key reporters across a myriad of advocacy issues
- Write and edit persuasive external and internal documents such as press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points, editorial board memos and communications plans
- Identify and engage with new media platforms including independent journalists, news influencers, podcasts, YouTube shows and more
Essential skills:
- 3-4+ years of relevant work experience in strategic communications, media relations, advocacy, campaign politics, journalism or a related field
- Direct experience in international relations or public affairs
- Proven relationships with key reporters covering the top issues of the day in politics, public affairs, international relations, social justice, and philanthropy
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multitask with ease, manage multiple assignments at once, work quickly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to detail
- A personal commitment to and knowledge of public affairs, politics and social justice
- An understanding of organizing and advocacy communications, including social media campaigning, writing for the web (website copy, social media posts, articles, etc.), local, state or national politics, and how to engage with members of the media for both rapid response and long lead stories
Preferred skills:
- Direct experience working in public affairs or communications on a political campaign
- Proven track record of securing and booking media placements for nonprofit organizations, political candidates or advocacy groups
- Background in international affairs or global PR with working knowledge of reputation management
