Job Summary
This position’s primary responsibility is to support ideation and lead implementation of improvements to the ALM modeling ecosystem. This includes streamlining modeling processes, advancing analytical capabilities, and partnering with key business constituents to enhance reporting deliverables. This person will serve as a subject matter expert for asset and liability modeling practices and techniques.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Development and maintenance of a best estimate ALM model.
- Partnering with model use case owners to tailor the best estimate ALM model to constituent’s individual needs.
- Analyzing end-to-end model processes to identify areas for improvement, support ideation of strategies on identified areas, and lead implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Develop and support ongoing model governance and controls.
- Support implementation of new software and systems in the ALM modeling ecosystem.
- Support collaboration with both internal stakeholders and external partners to align efforts and ensure project continuity.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have formal people leadership responsibilities but may provide guidance, mentorship, or subject matter expertise to others.

- Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and team skills.
- Solid understanding of asset and liability modeling practices and techniques.
- Solid understanding of maintaining a strong internal control and governance environment.
- Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and a strategic mindset.
- Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities; demonstrated ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong internal relationships within the company.
- Team player who can function as a key member of a small group in which members of the team work with great autonomy; takes a high degree of ownership for their areas of responsibility as a subject matter expert.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Ability to learn and utilize actuarial and ALM software, including AXIS or similar platforms..
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills are a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Level
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field.
Years of Experience
- 5+ year of relevant experience of actuarial experience, with prior exposure to ALM, actuarial modeling software, and asset modeling.
- Familiarity with life and annuity products, general account assets, and actuarial projection methodologies.
License/Certification
- ASA designation required; FSA designation or near-FSA preferred.
Other Requirements
- This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available.
