Duties & Role:
- Design and implement AWS cloud solutions to support business applications and services;
- Build, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles;
- Lead or support cloud migration projects from on-premises or legacy environments to AWS;
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls, access management, encryption, and compliance requirements;
- Monitor cloud environments to ensure availability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency;
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure incidents and service issues;
- Develop automation scripts and deployment pipelines to improve operational efficiency and consistency;
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver cloud-based solutions;
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support guides;
- Conduct reviews and recommend improvements to cloud architecture, security posture, resilience, and operational processes;
- Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation activities;
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams where required;
- Stay informed of AWS best practices, emerging technologies, and service updates to ensure continuous improvement;
Requirements
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- The candidate must have a currently active NATO SECRET security clearance
- Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting solutions within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment.
- Proven experience with AWS core services including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Route 53, and AWS Backup;
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK;
- Knowledge of cloud networking, security architectures, identity and access management, and data protection best practices;
- Experience implementing high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions;
- Proficiency in automation and scripting;
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as Azure DevOps;
- Understanding of containerisation technologies including Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes/EKS;
- Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising cloud infrastructure performance and costs;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
