About the role
You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle — from concept development and detailed design through procurement support, construction support, testing, commissioning, performance validation, and operational optimization. The role requires a strong combination
of process engineering expertise, technical leadership, commissioning experience, and operational understanding.
In this multidisciplinary role, you will act as the principal process authority across project teams, ensuring that process solutions are technically sound, operationally efficient, maintainable, reliable, and capable of delivering long-term performance throughout the asset
lifecycle.
Your Contribution
Process Design & Technical Leadership
- Lead and manage process design activities for water, wastewater, reuse, and environmental treatment projects.
- Oversee process-related activities throughout concept design, FEED, detailed design, procurement support, construction support, testing, commissioning, and performance validation.
- Review and validate process calculations, design criteria, hydraulic calculations, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass balances, equipment sizing, and technical submissions.
- Ensure process designs comply with safety, quality, budget, schedule, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Challenge process solutions to ensure practical constructability, operability, maintainability, and long-term performance.
- Ensure process designs consider long-term operational reliability, maintainability, lifecycle performance, and total cost of ownership.
- Evaluate process solutions based on CAPEX, OPEX, operational risk, energy efficiency, and manpower requirements.
- Support the development of resilient process systems capable of maintaining performance under changing operating conditions.
- Promote design approaches that simplify operation while maintaining treatment efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to asset reliability strategies, redundancy philosophy, operational risk mitigation, and plant optimization initiatives.
- Incorporate lessons learned from commissioning and operational feedback into future project designs.
- Support testing, commissioning, startup, process stabilization, and performance guarantee activities.
- Lead process troubleshooting efforts related to treatment performance, hydraulic issues, process instability, and operational bottlenecks.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective action development during commissioning and operational phases.
- Collaborate with project and operational teams to optimize process performance and improve plant efficiency.
- Participate in process performance assessments, operational reviews, and plant improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with external designers, consultants, technology providers, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors.
- Provide process-related input to civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and commissioning teams.
- Act as the key process interface between project teams, clients, consultants, suppliers, technology licensors, authorities, and operators.
- Support coordinated project delivery through effective multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, value engineering activities, and process-related problem solving.
- Support procurement teams with technical evaluation of process equipment, technology packages, suppliers, and specialist subcontractors.
- Review technical proposals and ensure alignment with project objectives and operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with local standards, environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and industry best practices.

Your Profile
Education & Experience
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in water, wastewater, reuse, desalination, environmental, or related treatment projects.
- Previous experience in a Process Manager, Lead Process Engineer, Principal Process Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience across design, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and operational support activities.
- Experience within GCC or international EPC project environments is highly preferred.
- Exposure to operational, maintenance, or asset management environments is considered a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies, process equipment, process control philosophy, commissioning requirements, and performance testing.
- Experience reviewing process calculations, hydraulic models, process guarantees, and treatment performance requirements.
- Solid understanding of operational challenges, maintainability considerations, reliability engineering principles, and lifecycle performance optimization.
- Ability to evaluate process solutions based on CAPEX, OPEX, operational risk, energy efficiency, and long-term operational performance.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces and managing consultants, suppliers, technology providers, and specialist subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Strong leadership and technical decision-making capabilities.
