As part of this mission, Slingshot Biosciences is seeking a highly motivated Field Application Scientist (FAS) in Boston, MA. In this pivotal role, you will provide exceptional technical support, drive customer success, and collaborate closely with Sales to expand our market presence. This role will require up to 50% travel within the designated region. We offer a great opportunity to be involved in product development while also working in a customer-facing role that collaborates with internal teams including Sales, Product Development, and Marketing.
This role reports to the Field Application Scientist - Manager.
Location: This is an on-site position based in Boston, MA.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support for Sales:
- Perform pre-sales activities in partnership with the sales team, including presentations, consultations and if applicable, product demonstrations. Align objectives collaboratively with sales teammates.
- Ensure consistency in technical messaging and positioning across all customer interactions.
- Customer Relationship Building:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders to ensure continued satisfaction and success with Slingshot Biosciences’ products.
- Troubleshoot customer issues, optimizing workflows, and maximizing the value of our offerings.
- Gather and relay customer feedback to internal teams to drive product improvements and innovation.
- Market Insight and Competitive Analysis:
- Provide insights to leadership and cross-functional teams on market opportunities and customer needs.
- Represent Slingshot Biosciences at conferences, trade shows, and customer site visits to build brand awareness and industry relationships.
- Cross-functional Communication:
- Work closely with members from product management and R&D to push custom projects through to completion
- Collaborate with marketing to review and provide feedback on customer facing marketing collateral
- 4+ years' experience in biotech industry or equivalent laboratory experience
- 2+ years' experience running flow cytometry assays in the 8-40 color range, understanding of flow cytometry best practices, assay design, staining and data acquisition protocols, and ability to interpret flow cytometry data and troubleshoot experiments
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering) or equivalent experience. Master’s or Ph.D. is preferred.
- Strong understanding of synthetic biology, flow cytometry, cell biology, or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills including ability to structure and deliver engaging presentations, distill complex ideas into simple explanations, and to work collaboratively in a matrix environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Must have excellent English communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to travel at least 50%-60%, or as required to meet with customers and support the Sales team.
