POSITION SUMMARY: The Learning and Development Specialist supports the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs primarily for employees at the Motor Coach Industries (MCI) facility in Winnipeg, MB. Working closely with business leaders, operational teams, and Human Resources, this role identifies learning needs, develops effective training solutions, and evaluates program effectiveness to support employee development and organizational performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Partner with business leaders, operational teams, and Human Resources to identify learning and development needs aligned with organizational objectives
- Conduct training needs analyses and assess performance gaps to determine appropriate learning solutions
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain training programs, materials, and supporting documentation
- Deliver engaging classroom and virtual training to employees at various levels of the organization
- Apply instructional design principles to develop learning objectives, lesson plans, assessments, and training aids
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analyze business performance data to identify opportunities where learning interventions can improve results
- Maintain training schedules, records, course inventories, and related documentation
- Coordinate and support internal subject matter experts and training resources
- Manage relationships with external training vendors and service providers
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects related to learning and development
- Promote and support safe work practices while complying with all organizational safety requirements
Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering training programs within a manufacturing, operational, or industrial environment
- Experience conducting training needs assessments and translating business requirements into effective learning solutions
- Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies
- Excellent facilitation, presentation, and classroom instruction skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
- Strong planning, organization, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within cross-functional and matrixed environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other learning-related technologies
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and operational best practices
- Experience delivering training within a unionized environment is considered an asset
- Adult Education Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience
PHYSICAL & WORKPLACE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly (75 lbs. with assistance), perform repetitive movements (bending, kneeling, crouching), and work on elevated surfaces or confined spaces
- Must be able to stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods (up to 8+ hours)
- Requires visual acuity to read diagnostics and inspect components, as well as hearing ability to detect vehicle noises and alarms
- Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including noise, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations, while wearing PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and relevant HV PPE)
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to workplace procedures
- Up to 10% travel; must be eligible to travel to Canada or the U.S
