Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for an IT Vendor Manager to be deployed at client sites, dedicated to supporting the maximization of commercial value and optimizing the financial efficiency of enterprise software licenses and core technology platforms.

The specialist will engage directly with client organisations to manage the commercial lifecycle of software assets, support cost-reduction initiatives, and ensure robust financial chargeback and compliance operations are executed across all affiliate companies.

 

On a given day, an IT Vendor Manager will: 

  • Manage the lifecycle of software licenses and subscriptions, including inventory tracking, renewals, usage monitoring, and optimization initiatives. 
  • Support commercial discussions and renewal processes with key software vendors to achieve cost-efficiency and business objectives.  
  • Coordinate the vendor relationships and act as a laison between internal stakeholders, Global Procurement (GP) and Legal, and external partners. 
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiations for major software licenses and tools, including Atlassian (Jira/Confluence), Mathworks, and Blackduck, driving cost savings and optimization goals.
  • Manage the full inventory and lifecycle of software licenses, including usage tracking and license type optimization. 
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for software vendors, coordinating communication with Global Procurement (GP) and Legal for complex or urgent matters. 
  • Develop and manage the commercial model for the resale and external deployment of specific platforms and tools (e.g., Jira/Confluence/Github) at an approved margin. 
  • Ensure accurate processing and documentation of all software-related financial transactions, including Quotations, POs, Invoices, and AP, with appropriate justification for major purchases. 
  • Design, operate, and refine chargeback and cost allocation schemes for key internal platforms, including GPU usage calculation, allocation rule definition, and centralized billing. 
  • Ensure all software licensing and platform usage aligns with contractual terms and internal governance rules, addressing complex legal and compliance issues as needed. 
  • Collaborate with PM & Engineering teams to review platform feature enhancements and verify alignment with software licensing agreements. 
  • Coordinate with corporate headquarters and affiliate organizations on billing, agreement amendments, and organizational changes. 
  • Drive the transition from ad-hoc management to a centralized operational framework, establishing clear guidelines for license tracking, billing, and budgeting. 

Requirements

In order to be successful in this role you will need: 

  • 5+ years in Software Asset Management (SAM), Software Vendor Management, or IT Commercial Operations within a large technology organization. 
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise licensing and commercial models.  
  • Demonstrated ability in negotiating complex enterprise software contracts and designing financial allocation/chargeback methodologies. 
  • Proven track record of managing conflicting requirements and aligning business, technical, legal, and financial stakeholders (Corporate HQ, GP, Legal). 
  • Business level for Japanese and English. 

Employment Conditions

  • Employment Type : Full-time, 6-month fixed-term contract. No probationary period. (Renewable based on work performance and workload)
  • Salary : ¥8,000,000 – ¥10,000,000 annually. Determined based on experience, skills, and other factors in accordance with company regulations.
  • Allowance : Commuting Allowance
  • Working Hours : 9:00 – 18:00 (1-hour break)
  • Overtime : Not required
  • Holidays : Saturdays, Sundays, and Japanese public holidays. ※ Annual paid leave and special leave also provided
  • Remote Work : 1–2 days a week
  • Work Location : Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower, 3-2-1 Nihonbashi Muromachi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, JAPAN 103-0022 (Office location may change within Greater Tokyo Area; relocation is not required.)
  • Insurance : Employment insurance, health insurance, employees' pension insurance, workers' accident compensation insurance
  • Smoking Policy : No smoking indoors in principle
