Job responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including sales, procurement, distribution, logistics, export, and IP-related contracts.
- Provide practical legal advice to support business operations while effectively managing legal and contractual risks.
- Lead and manage litigation and disputes, including overseeing external counsel and settlement strategies.
- Advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, licensing, import/export, sanctions, and cross-border legal matters across Southeast Asia.
- Support corporate secretarial matters, including board resolutions, minutes, statutory records, and regulatory filings.
- Develop and maintain legal templates, policies, SOPs, and compliance programmes.
- Conduct legal training and drive legal process improvements across the organisation.
- Partner closely with stakeholders across Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, and other business functions.
Job requirements:
- Qualified lawyer admitted to the Malaysian Bar or another Commonwealth jurisdiction.
- Minimum 12 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Combination of experience in a reputable law firm and an in-house legal role within a multinational corporation.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and/or FMCG businesses is highly preferred.
- Regional legal experience covering Southeast Asian markets.
- Strong commercial contracting, corporate governance, compliance, and dispute management experience.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide commercially pragmatic legal advice.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Fluent in English; Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia would be advantageous
