Companies Render Accounting Operations Manager

About the role

Render · Remote

At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to eliminate the tradeoff between the power of hyperscalers and the simplicity of developer-friendly platforms—so teams can ship fast, scale reliably, and focus on their product, not infrastructure.

Unlike complex hyperscalers or ephemeral edge/serverless solutions, Render offers a developer-first experience with persistent compute, dynamic autoscaling, built-in orchestration, and observability, allowing teams to launch, scale, and manage real-world applications without writing infrastructure code or managing servers. Whether you're building LLM-powered applications, scalable SaaS products, or async processing pipelines, Render empowers teams to move fast and scale confidently from MVP to millions of users.

Our platform is trusted by over 6 million developers worldwide and continues to grow rapidly. In February 2026, we raised an additional $100M in Series C financing, bringing our total funding to $257M, to accelerate our vision of making cloud infrastructure both powerful and intuitive—designed for the speed of modern AI development.

We’re a diverse and talented team that values craft, velocity, and user experience. If you’re excited to help shape the future of the intelligent cloud and empower developers everywhere, we’d love to hear from you.

Applying to Render

We're seeking candidates who possess high integrity, humility, and an insatiable drive to learn. Through reasoned discussions and continuous feedback, we strive to improve both individually and collectively. We foster an environment of mutual trust and respect, empowering effective debate to achieve the best outcomes for our customers and team.

We especially encourage members of underrepresented groups in the tech community to apply and understand that not all successful candidates will meet each requirement listed.

Our interview process is unique to each role, and we value the candidate experience just as much as our customer experience. We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.

About the Role

We are looking for an Accounting Operations Manager to join our growing team and help build the operational foundation that will support our rapid growth and next stage of scale. Reporting to the Controller, this role will own some of our most business-critical operational processes- designing workflows, driving execution, and continuously improving how we manage purchasing, payments, payroll, and other core accounting operations as the company grows.

We are looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of accounting, systems, process design, and internal controls. This role goes beyond traditional accounting execution - you will be responsible for identifying operational inefficiencies, designing scalable workflows and implementing automation.

You will partner closely with Finance, IT & Security, Procurement, People Operations and other business stakeholders to build efficient, auditable, and user-friendly processes that enable the company to move quickly while maintaining strong financial controls. The ideal candidate combines accounting knowledge with a passion for operational excellence and modern finance technology.

If you are organized, resourceful, intellectually curious and energized by building scalable systems in a high-growth environment, this role offers an opportunity to have an outsized impact on how the company operates.

We are considering candidates to work out of our San Francisco HQ or remotely within the United States.

You will

  • Own the accounting operations function, driving scalable, efficient, and well-controlled processes across procure-to-pay, payroll, expense management, corporate card programs, vendor management, and other operational accounting areas as the company grows

  • Own accounts payable and payment operations, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment execution, corporate card administration, expense management, and related controls

  • Own accounting operations related to payroll including reconciliation of payroll liabilities, employee deductions, benefits, 401K, flexible spending plans and other payroll related accounts

  • Ensure quarterly and annual payroll tax filings are accurate and timely in coordination with our payroll provider

  • Own accounting operations systems and workflows, driving workflow redesign, automation initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements that strengthen internal controls, support audit readiness, reduce friction, and improve how employees interact with accounting processes

  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, People, IT& Security teams, and other stakeholders to improve operational workflows and strengthen controls across purchasing, payroll, expense management, and other accounting operations processes

  • Act as a key partner during audits and compliance activities, owning assigned workstreams and coordinating across internal and external stakeholders

  • Support the monthly financial close, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, journal entries, and preparation of management reporting

  • Own balance sheet reconciliations for payroll, bank, accounts payable, prepaids, fixed assets, and other GL accounts

  • Take ownership of special projects and evolving responsibilities in a fast-growing environment, bringing structure and follow-through to ambiguous work

We’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • 7+ years of experience

  • Experience implementing accounting systems and tooling

  • Experience owning or supporting accounts payable, payroll accounting, or other operational accounting functions

  • Experience leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives and driving adoption of new processes or systems

  • Experience supporting financial statement audits and maintaining audit-ready processes and documentation.

  • Strong systems aptitude and experience leveraging technology to improve accounting processes

  • Experience with balance sheet account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and accounts payable

  • Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment

  • Tech industry experience preferred

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in a later-stage venture-backed environment.

  • Systems experience: Quick Books Online, Ramp and Rippling

If this role excites you but you don’t meet every single requirement, we’d still love to hear from you—your unique experience might be just what we need.

Benefits

  • 4 weeks of paid vacation.

  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all parents to bond with a newly born, adopted, or fostered child. We will also work with you to create a supportive plan of return.

  • Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.

  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage and 99% employer-paid dental and vision coverage for you and a dependent. FSAs and HSAs are available as well.

  • Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health and therapy, hobbies, etc.

  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.

  • Commuter benefits for Renders in the Bay Area, and home office stipends for remote Renders.

  • Continuous learning benefits & related support.
